WHEEL & WRENCH WEDNESDAY 🔧

This week, let’s talk about something we see ALL the time…

Trailer wiring that’s been “fixed” 14 times but never actually fixed. 😂

You know the kind.

Twisted wires. Electrical tape on top of electrical tape. Random wire colors spliced together. Household connectors. Exposed copper. Grounds that are barely hanging on.

And our personal favorite — the mystery wire that apparently goes nowhere….

A quick roadside fix is one thing. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do to get home.

The problem is when that temporary fix becomes permanent…and then another problem gets patched onto it…and another.

Bad trailer wiring can mean more than annoying lights. It can cause intermittent brakes, blown fuses, shorts, dead batteries and leave you chasing an electrical problem that should have been fixed correctly the first time.

If your trailer wiring looks like somebody’s science experiment, bring it by. We can trace it, clean it up and repair it the right way.

Trailer Tip Thursday: Don’t Ignore Your Safety Chains!

Most people hook up their trailer, cross the safety chains, and hit the road—but are they actually doing their job?

✅ Quick Safety Checklist:
• Cross your chains under the tongue to create a cradle if the coupler fails.
• Make sure they’re not dragging on the ground.
• Check for worn, stretched, bent, or rusted links.
• Ensure the hooks have working safety latches.
• Replace damaged chains immediately—they’re far cheaper than an accident.

Your safety chains are your trailer’s last line of defense if the unexpected happens. Taking just 30 seconds to inspect them before every trip could prevent thousands of dollars in damage—or even save a life.
