Big things are in the works in Hampden, Maine and we are proud to be a part of it!

Haley Ward is alongside River City Maine Athletics on the future River City Athletics Quirk Sportplex - a multi-phase project designed to bring more year-round sports and recreation opportunities to the greater Bangor, Maine region.

Hearing River City Athletics speak about the project’s vision, impact, and the collaboration behind it means a great deal to our team. We’re proud to help support a project focused on youth sports, community wellness, and long-term investment in the region.

From early site evaluation and environmental permitting to civil engineering, architectural design, and structural engineering, our team has been involved since the beginning helping move the project forward as it continues to take shape.

We were excited to participate in this year’s Ken Locke Stream Cleanup with our friends at the City of Brewer, Maine.

This annual event does more than clean up local waterways. It also helps raise awareness about the importance of stormwater management and protecting the health of our rivers and streams. Many people do not realize that storm drains discharge untreated water directly into nearby water bodies, which makes community involvement and education so important.

Thank you to all the volunteers, organizers, local businesses, and community members who continue to make this event a success year after year. We are grateful to support efforts that help keep our communities clean, connected, and environmentally resilient.

Progress continues at the future home of ABM Mechanical Maine in Hermon, Maine.

ABM Mechanical envisioned a new prefabrication shop and modern office headquarters to support their growing team and expanding operations. The new facility will provide space for fabricating pipe sections and other components while creating an updated, functional workspace for employees.

Haley Ward is proud to support this project through:
• Master Planning
• Civil and Site Engineering
• Surveying
• Architecture and Interior Design
• Permitting

It’s exciting to see this vision continue taking shape, and we look forward to seeing the finished facility come to life!

When historic flooding hit downtown Gardiner, Maine in December 2023, the impacts on businesses, infrastructure, and the community were significant. In response, the City partnered with Haley Ward to better understand flood risks and identify practical ways to prepare for the future.

Through detailed mapping, flood modeling, historical research, and community engagement, our team developed a comprehensive Community Vulnerability Assessment focused on helping Gardiner strengthen resilience and reduce future risk.

One of the most important parts of this project was making complex flood data understandable and useful for property owners, residents, and decision-makers alike.

As flooding and severe weather events continue to affect communities across Maine, planning ahead is critical.

The EU Deforestation Regulation is getting a lot of attention in forestry, but much of the conversation focuses on timing rather than what compliance actually requires.

At its core, EUDR is about data. Specifically:
• Geolocation of harvest origin at the parcel level
• Species identification tied to each shipment
• Volume and weight traced back to that location
• Verification that land was not deforested after the cutoff date using satellite imagery

Most forestry systems were built to track contracts, volumes, and payments. They were not designed to connect a specific load of wood back to a specific parcel with supporting spatial data.

That shift requires a different approach. It means linking operational forestry data with geospatial systems, satellite imagery, and species-level inventory in a way that is clear, traceable, and ready for reporting.

EUDR enforcement is approaching, and expectations will only increase from there. Now is the time to take a close look at your data and understand where gaps exist.

Haley Ward works with clients to build and connect the data systems needed to meet requirements like these. We've spent the last year building exactly this: forestry data systems that connect harvest parcels, satellite imagery, and species tracking into a single traceable pipeline. If EUDR is on your radar, let's talk about what readiness looks like for your organization. Contact Brendan Hall at [email protected], for more information.
