Question of the Day!

Have you ever tried a different suspension system, and did it improve your comfort or confidence?

Whether it's suction, pin lock, vacuum, or another system, how your prosthesis stays attached can make a big difference!

Sometimes changing your suspension system can completely change how your prosthesis feels and performs.

Have you ever switched systems? Was it better or worse? Let us know!

Question of the Day!

Does your prosthesis feel different at the beginning of the day compared to the end?

Maybe your socket feels tighter in the morning, looser by the afternoon, or your comfort changes throughout the day.

These changes can happen for several reasons, including fluctuations in residual limb volume.

Does this happen to you? Let us know in the comments!

Question of the Day

Have you ever asked your prosthetist to explain why they chose a particular knee or foot for you?

There are a lot of prosthetic options out there, and each component is chosen for a reason. Your activity level, goals, lifestyle, and comfort all play a part.

If you've ever asked that question, what did you learn?

Hey CPO Paul! What's the Process of Getting Your First Prosthesis?

For someone who has recently become an amputee, knowing what to expect can make a big difference.

When can you start the process? How long does it take? What happens during the appointments?

In this video, Paul Leimkuehler, CPO, walks through the steps involved in getting your first prosthesis, from healing and the initial evaluation to casting, test sockets, adjustments, and receiving your prosthesis.

At Leimkuehler O&P, we believe patient education and taking the time to get the fit right are essential parts of quality prosthetic care.

For our experienced amputees, what do you wish someone had explained before you received your first prosthesis?

Question of the Day!

Would you rather have a prosthesis designed for maximum durability or one that's as lightweight as possible?

Every amputee has different needs, and what works great for one person might not be ideal for another.

Some prioritize durability because of their job, lifestyle, or daily activities. Others prefer a lighter prosthesis to make walking and everyday movement feel easier.

At Leimkuehler, we believe your prosthesis should be designed around your individual needs, goals, and lifestyle.

If you had to choose just one, durability or lightweight, which would you pick and why?

Hey CPO Paul! How Do I Know When My Prosthetic Socket Needs Replaced?

Your prosthetic socket is one of the most important parts of your prosthesis, but how do you know when it's time for a new one?

Changes in your residual limb, a loose fit, discomfort, skin irritation, or needing more and more prosthetic socks can all be signs that your socket may need attention.

In this video, Paul Leimkuehler, CPO, explains what amputees should look for and when it might be time to consider a replacement socket.

At Leimkuehler O&P, we believe a properly fitting socket is the foundation of a comfortable and functional prosthesis.

Amputees, what was the first sign that made you realize you needed a new socket?
