Today is World Environment Day, and this year's theme is about climate change. One of the gases most frequently discussed together with climate change is carbon dioxide, CO2. But what do you know about this colourless gas, composed of the two elements carbon and oxygen? And what steps has the European Union taken with the trading system ETC to reduce CO2 emissions? Read our two blog posts about this subject to learn more.

☁️Application of the Month: Fence-line Monitoring☁️

Fence-line monitoring is a method used to track air pollution around the boundaries of industrial sites. By placing sensors or open-path monitors along the site's perimeter, this system detects and measures airborne gases and emissions in real time. It helps identify leaks or accidental releases before they spread into nearby communities, ensuring safer operations and regulatory compliance.

That's a wrap! A big thank you to all participants who attended this year's OPSIS Technical training at our headquarters in Furulund, Sweden, this week.

The training included both hands-on exercises and presentation sessions to strengthen the participants knowledge of our products and services.

We hope the knowledge and experience gained during this week will be valuable in your future work with OPSIS' customers and installations around the world. We look forward to seeing you all again soon!

☁️Application of the Month: Raw Gas Monitoring☁️

To achieve effective emissions monitoring, accurate, real-time data are needed. This is especially important in demanding conditions, such as in raw gas where high temperatures and dust levels exists. By continuously monitoring gas compounds in the flue gas, operators can optimise their processes and ensure compliance with national and international environmental standards and regulations. This, in turn, leads to reduced operating costs and improved performance.

OPSIS offers monitoring systems for controlling flue gas treatment. This and more, can be found on our flue gas treatment page here:

Light might seem obvious. There are light sources, our surroundings reflect and absorb light, and we see our surroundings with the help of light. Up to this point, there’s not much to think about. But it’s also possible to measure things using light, such as gas concentrations. How the latter works might not be quite so obvious, but let’s try to explain it anyway in our latest blog post. https://www.opsis.se/en/knowledge-base/opsis-blog/let-there-be-light/

To monitor hydrogen sulfide (H2S) can be difficult. The UV absorption is without structure and the IR absorption is significantly affected by interference from H2O. Learn how an H2S monitoring system operates in industrial applications by watching our YouTube video:

Happy Earth Day! Today, we turn our attention to the environment and the responsibility we all share in protecting it for generations to come. For over 40 years, we have been operating in the gas monitoring field and today we have thousands of air quality monitoring systems installed world wide. But how did it all begin?
