To most people, it's an evaporator. To Quality Engineer Ramdas Nair, it's an orchestra.

Heat transfer driving the phase change. Separation splitting vapour from the concentrate. Pumps holding circulation, valves controlling pressure. Every part playing its role without flaw, day after day.

Not everyone gets it. It's personal.

Connecting data centers to district heating

In 2025, HeatChain Oy, an energy-tech company that owns and operates data-boiler facilities, delivered 50 GWh of clean district heating energy in Finland, enabled by Alfa Laval.

As the world continues to embrace digitalization and AI, the real challenge is building more sustainable infrastructure to support them. One innovative and scalable solution is reusing heat from data centers.

In addition, HeatChain’s facilities achieved 3,650 tonnes of CO₂ emissions reduction in district heating production.
