This session invites participants to experience acute care through the eyes of persons living with dementia, care-partners, and healthcare teams. Through storytelling, participant interaction, reflection, and realistic acute care scenarios, attendees will explore the unique challenges encountered across emergency departments, inpatient units, and transitions home.

Rosie Sears is a Registered Physiotherapist and Behavioural Specialist at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto, Canada. Drawing on extensive clinical experience, she will share practical approaches to supporting person-centered care, preserving dignity and function, and partnering effectively with families and caregivers throughout the hospital journey.

Patients recovering from critical illness often face lasting physical, cognitive, and psychological challenges. This webinar will explore the challenges faced by patients following critical illness, with a focus on Post-Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) and its ongoing impact on physical, cognitive, and psychological recovery. The session will introduce strategies to reduce the burden of PICS and highlight the role of rehabilitation following ICU discharge, including assessment, goal setting, and the delivery of patient-centered rehabilitation on the ward.
