For decades, Damen Maaskant has been renowned as the Dutch builder of fishing trawlers, delivering more than 200 vessels since 1948. As the fishing industry evolved, the yard adapted – without losing its identity.

Another Damen Tug to strengthen Svitzer Global’s UK fleet!

We are pleased to announce our recent contract signing with Svitzer for an ASD Tug 2312. The company will operate the vessel in the The Bristol Port Company, UK. With construction already underway prior to the order, the new tug will join the Svitzer fleet later this year.

From quayside to drydock and ready for what's next.

We're pleased to share that Seven Borealis, operated by Subsea 7 Official, has successfully completed an extensive maintenance and modification programme at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam.

The project ran across multiple phases. During the quayside period, Subsea7 and Huisman carried out offshore equipment installation and commissioning, with our team providing full yard support. On 19 May, the vessel entered Dry Dock 7 for the main scope of works, including structural steel renewals, thruster maintenance, hull coating, piping modifications, and replacement of ICCP and MGPS systems. A custom dock block arrangement was designed to accommodate the specialist equipment installed at the vessel's aft.

As the project evolved, additional client requests expanded the scope. Our team and subcontractors responded with flexibility and focus, ensuring everything was completed safely and on time.

Seven Borealis left the yard on 26 July, ready for her next offshore campaign. Fair winds and following seas, we look forward to welcoming her back.

Building smarter infrastructure for West Africa's growing ports.

We're pleased to announce that we've been awarded a contract to deliver two HDPE pontoons – each measuring 85 by 4 metres – for the Port Autonome de Cotonou in Benin. This project is being delivered in close collaboration with our partner Eiffage.

HDPE, or high-density polyethylene, is a material particularly well suited to demanding marine environments. It offers exceptional impact resistance, zero corrosion, and minimal maintenance requirements, which translates into a long service life, lower lifecycle costs, and reliable operational availability.

For the Port autonome de Cotonou, that means robust, future-ready infrastructure built to support long-term growth. We're proud to contribute to the development of one of West Africa's key ports, and to do so alongside a trusted partner in Eiffage.

Vincent Loeve joined us as a purchaser. A decade in procurement gave him a deep understanding of how our business connects. He taught himself IT, moved to the Service Desk, and supported 6,000+ workspaces across Europe.

Then AI arrived and Vincent saw his next move.

Since September 2025, he's been leading our AI adoption efforts: helping teams work confidently with tools like Microsoft Copilot and coordinating AI integration across SAP, Salesforce, Workday and Maximo. He's even built a carpool app using AI, with a CO₂-tracking feature on the way.

"We're all gears in the machine. I understand where the business gets stuck and know how to link the right people and tools together."

Vincent's story is a reminder that growth doesn't always mean moving on. Sometimes it means going deeper.

Damen-designed ASD Tug 2312 supports fleet renewal.

WS Halcyon is the latest Damen-designed tug constructed by Wilson Sons at its yard in Guarujá, São Paulo, Brazil. This completion of the vessel is a milestone, marking the 155th vessel to be built at the yard in its 80-year history.

WS Halcyon is the first in a series of three ASD Tugs 2312 that Wilson Sons is building as part of the renewal of its 80-strong tug fleet. The company has committed itself to modernising its operations. The ASD Tugs 2312 will certainly be able to support that goal.

Compact and multi-functional, the vessel delivers 70 tonnes of bollard pull – sufficient to support berthing and unberthing of the largest vessels operating in Brazil’s main ports. For added versatility, the tugs are being equipped with FiFi 1 firefighting capabilities.

The remaining two vessels are scheduled for delivery later this year.

A comprehensive refit programme to keep Bahamian waters protected.

We're proud to share that we've signed a contract with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) to deliver a comprehensive refit programme for four vessels.

A Bahamian delegation led by the Hon. Myles K. Laroda, Minister of National Security, visited Gorinchem for the contract signing. Covering a range of vessels, from offshore patrol vessels to a logistics support ship, the programme is designed to restore and extend operational readiness while ensuring the RBDF can continue protecting Bahamian waters without interruption.

The work is already underway. Three vessels were transported from The Bahamas to the Netherlands, where they will undergo their refits at our yard. The logistics support vessel HMBS Lawrence Major will undergo its refit at Cotecmar in Colombia, allowing it to remain closer to home and return to service sooner.

What makes this milestone especially meaningful is the relationship behind it. For more than 12 years, we've worked alongside the RBDF to support maritime security, search and rescue, and disaster relief. More than a contract, it's a trusted partnership.

What completes this future-focused vessel? The answer is blowing in the wind.

The recently delivered MV Baltic Timber is an important step for sustainable short sea shipping.

As the first of four Damen Combi Freighters 3850 for Reederei Sibum to be fitted with Econowind VentoFoils, the vessel brings together wind-assisted propulsion, an efficient hull design, hybrid capabilities and shore power connectivity in one future-focused platform. Importantly, the CF 3850 was prepared for this installation from the design and build stage, with space and integration options already taken into account to enable the retrofit of the VentoFoils.

Together, we are moving short sea shipping towards a more sustainable future.

We’re proud to be at the forefront of maritime electrification. Over the last few years, we’ve delivered several fully electric ferries and tugs. These vessels, with their short, predictable sailing routes are ideal candidates for this minimum emissions solution.

To help provide our clients with confidence in this innovative form of propulsion, we have developed independent electrical systems for port and starboard sides of the vessel. This way, in the – highly unlikely – event that one system fails, the other will ensure ongoing safe operation.

We’re continuing to work towards the evolution of electric systems. This involves investigating the potential to borrow successful solutions from other sectors, adapting them to deliver proven technology direct to the maritime industry.

With increasingly available renewable energy we see a bright future for increasing electrification of vessels and look forward to continuing to play our part.
