We are pleased to announce that the Damen Commissioning Service Operations Vessel (CSOV) Windcat Rotterdam has been nominated for the KNVTS Maritime Ship of the Year Award. The award goes each year to a highly innovative vessel, designed in the Netherlands with strong support from Dutch supply chain partners.

A joint project between Damen and Windcat. The Windcat Rotterdam combines:

• Advanced DP capabilities
• A highly efficient propulsion configuration
• Battery-supported power management
• Preparation for future hydrogen operation

The result is a safer, more efficient vessel that delivers optimal offshore performance today, and is ready for tomorrow. A prime example of what collaboration, engineering expertise and innovation can achieve in Dutch shipbuilding.

CF 3850 numbers 49 and 50 – a milestone in trust.

We recently launched the 49th and 50th Combi Freighters (CF) 3850. This momentous milestone was about much more than just the numbers. We are building these latest Damen cargo vessels for Malta’s Polidano Group, a family business that shares our entrepreneurial spirit and long-term vision.

Together, we are proud to develop the next-generation vessels that will play a vital role in supporting regional trade and connectivity. The CF 3850 vessels will provide the efficiency and future readiness that will keep the company ahead of the curve. They will be named Denise P and Julia P, in honour of Polidano family members.

Yesterday, Rimorchiatori Porto di Genova, part of Boluda Towage, held a naming ceremony for its latest Damen vessel, an ASD Tug 2813 named VB Marte.

Boluda operates alongside several other Damen vessels in Italy’s largest port. The company has, however, chosen to equip the vessel for a scope wider than towage.

VB Marte features an aft winch, crane, a FiFi 1 firefighting system and oil spill recovery capabilities. Damen Sales Manager for Italy Antonio Marte, said, “Boluda has opted to build an asset that is extremely versatile. The company has also chosen to install a Damen Marine NOx Reduction System, which reduces NOx emissions by 80%, demonstrating Boluda’s forward-thinking and responsible approach to its operations.”

Say hello to Zhinoomooshinaangnikeyaa!

This Stan Tug 1706 ICE is currently on its way from our yard in the Netherlands to remote Lake Simcoe in Southern Ontario, Canada. There, she will be welcomed by her owners, the Chippewa of Georgia Island First Nation.

The community will use the tug to break ice during the colder months, enabling its ferry service to operate both earlier and later in the year.

When it came to naming the vessel, the community turned to its elders for guidance, following an important tradition. The name, originating from Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe), means ‘she who shows us the way’. Anishinaabemowin is an Indigenous language spoken in Canada and the northern United States.

A fitting name for a tug that will play an important role in connecting the community and a wonderful way to honour its traditions and values.

We’re proud to see this tug embark on such a meaningful mission!

Recently, we launched the 49th and 50th Combi Freighter (CF) 3850 vessels. This major milestone has been achieved in just five years since we unveiled this next-generation vessel design. We are proud of this achievement, which demonstrates the success of shipbuilding in series and the reliability of the CF 3850.

The vessel represents the future of short sea shipping. Fine-tuned through valuable feedback from our clients, the CF 3850 continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of the market. Combining standard, proven solutions with the latest innovations, the vessel pairs optimal reliability with the efficient performance demanded for the operations of today – and tomorrow.

These latest vessels are being built for Malta’s Polidano Group. Launched just one week apart, we are now looking forward to the next phase of construction, with both vessels scheduled for delivery before the end of the year.

More space, more comfort, built for open waters.

We've unveiled our new Fast Ferry 5012, a natural evolution of our trusted Fast Ferry 4212, extended using our Enlarged Ship Concept.
The 50-metre catamaran hull features an increased tunnel height, allowing the vessel to operate confidently in rougher seas and open waters.

Passenger accommodation is positioned further aft to improve comfort in a seaway, while two forward-facing passenger decks make the journey part of the experience.
The additional space doesn't come at the cost of capacity.

The FF 5012 carries up to 450 passengers, while also offering room for retail facilities, a crew room, and a large luggage hold with dedicated side access.

Just 18.25 metres long, the tug delivers 30 tonnes of bollard pull. Thanks to its Damen Twin Fin skeg, the ASD Tug 1810 is highly manoeuvrable and predictable during operations.
