When an EV gearbox fails, replacement shouldn't be your first thought!

For example the BYD gearbox Adam is raising onto his bench. This came into our workshop requiring specialist inspection and repair.

For maintenance teams, the priority is simple: understand the fault, fix it properly and get the equipment back into service.

Our engineers stripped the unit down, assessed the condition of the components, identified the issues and carried out the necessary repair work before putting it through testing.

In just 7 days, 36 guests will be joining us at the incredible for the Charity Golf Day.

And preparations are well underway…

Weather forecast? 🌦️ We’ll keep an eye on it.
Golfing ability? 🤔 We’ll keep that under review.
Number of golf balls required for the 17th? 🎯 Probably best not to ask.

Speaking of the 17th…
It’s a downhill par 3 to an island green. The advice is simple: aim for the middle of the green and be mindful of the wind.
Simple, right?
Until you’re stood on the tee with water surrounding the green and your teams expectation weighing heavily on you. 😂

Our tip: trust your club selection, pick your target and commit to the shot.
And if it doesn't work…

Well, we're sure someone will be happy to add another ball to the JCB lake. 🏌️‍♂️💦

⛳We can't control the weather.
⛳We can't control the wind.
⛳And we certainly can't control where your golf balls end up.
⛳But we CAN make sure everyone has a fantastic day.

Most importantly, we're hosting the day in support of Dougie Mac. Last year, we raised just over £600. This year, we'd love to go one better and reach £1,000. That's the target. 🎯

A Fanuc pendant is a critical part of a robotic system; helping engineers programme movement paths, calibrate pick-up points and monitor machine status and error codes.

Lee was part way through the overhaul of this one when we caught up with him.

The repair includes component-level testing, replacement of faulty and suspect devices, inspection of tracks and solder joints, replacement of age-prone components, a new LCD display, overlay and emergency stop button, followed by power testing.

It's all part of the repair process in our Drives & Controls Department, where a wide range of industrial electronics comes through our workshop.

GCSE Results Day 🎓

Today is a big day for thousands of young people across the UK.

Whatever the envelope says, take a moment to be proud of the work, effort and determination that got you here. You’ve already achieved something.

Remember: there isn’t just one route to success.

A-levels, college, apprenticeships, vocational qualifications, further training, work based learning; there are plenty of different paths, and sometimes the route you take matters less than the attitude you bring to it.

Results can open doors, but they don’t define your future.

Keep learning. Work hard. Be willing to adapt.

With the right attitude, there’s always a route forward.

Congratulations to everyone receiving their results today; and good luck with whatever comes next! 👏
