💚 The Bourne Group Ltd Charity Trust have donated 27 laptops to the YMCA Fairthorne Group in Southampton! These will go to the young adults who live in their supported accommodation who, due to various circumstances, do not have anywhere else safe to live.

Laptops are key for young adults in helping to bridge education gaps, facilitate online courses, and assist with job applications and CV creation.
This gift will enable them to pursue educational opportunities, enhance their employability, and develop crucial life skills, fostering their journey towards independence and stability.

YMCA Fairthorne Group supports 160 young adults at risk of homelessness, aged 18-30, many of whom have experienced traumatic childhoods and lack access to technology. The organisation's spirit, support and dedication will ensure that these laptops have a huge impact on their residents' ability to achieve their educational and career goals, ultimately improving their prospects for future employment.

And as an added bonus: the laptops will be maintained by the YMCA Fairthorne Group's own in-house IT department - a sustainable solution that will also provide ongoing support to their members! ♻️

A great start from the Bourne Group team at 10 King William Street, a landmark 139,000 sq ft office building in the heart of the City of London.

Steel er****on has already begun on levels 5 and 6, and hollow ribbed decking is working up from level 3 to level 4.

The call to (little plastic grabby) arms when out, and the team responded!

Last week, Alan and Greg led a group from the Hemel Hempstead site comprising a total of 4 Bourne Group Ltd personnel, a Cardiff Steel Erector, and 5 from Murphy Group on a litter picking exercise around the local roads and park near the site.

We split into 4 teams, and within half an hour had filled 4 bags of litter, clearing over 500 metres of hedgerow.

And what a difference it made! 🌱

Job Opening: Structural Engineer

Bourne Group Ltd are seeking a qualified Structural Engineer (preferably Chartered) to join our team and provide engineering solutions and expertise to all parts of the Bourne Group.

For this fantastic opportunity, you will have proven building design and construction experience, specifically in structural steelwork including connection design, temporary works and experience of working with contractors, engineers and architects.

If you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven commercial awareness, then we would love to hear from you.

🐰 We’re egg-static to announce that thanks to the incredible generosity of Bourne Group Ltd and Kier Group at Alderney Water Treatment Works, we have contributed over 400 Easter Eggs to the The Dorset Children's Foundation – and that’s no yolk! 🍳

Many other partners and contractors were keen to help and so the eggs just kept piling up – thank you to JH Cladding Ltd, South West Water and Hercules Site Services PLC and Danny Sullivan Group for your donations!

Today, Lara Tyler and her Reed colleagues will be delivering the eggs, ready for the charity’s Easter Party on Wednesday. And what a joyful party that'll be, bringing chocolate fixes and smiles to so many children’s faces! 🥳

It’s always a pleasure to support our community and celebrate the festive season together, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of all our colleagues and partners. And so begins another busy new year in the construction world for our Bourne Group site teams!🏗️

Roofs with a view - Bourne Group's steelwork at Elephant & Castle forges ahead!

36 crown modules have just been installed over 3 different towers, which are 20, 22 & 34 stories high respectively. The modules are built at podium level onto temporary support structures and then cladded and lifted into position, minimising the amount of high-risk works taking place over the busy London high streets below.

The overarching goal of this redevelopment project is to achieve a low-carbon solution, with steel reuse strongly supported by the entire supply chain. Once complete, approximately 26% of the total designed steel will be reclaimed, with 160 tonnes of embodied carbon saved.
