☀️ Solar performance powered by SOL A-Frame. 📐

ICB Projects supplied the waterproofing system and the SOL-A Frame system for a large warm roof refurbishment at the P1 Plastering Shop in Cheltenham, installed by McDonnell Price Roofing.

The existing felt roof was upgraded with a new warm roof build-up featuring 200mm PIR insulation and an alwitra® Evalon® V single ply membrane, improving both thermal performance and long-term waterproofing protection.

To prevent ponding, the installation included bespoke box gutters and Type S outlets, while EVA drip trims provided a clean perimeter finish. The majority of the roof was also fitted with Solarfix bars, allowing for future solar PV integration without penetrating the waterproofing system.

ICB’s SOL-A Frame was specified for this project to provide the optimal angle for the solar panels, which were secured using rails and clamps. The system prioritised quick and easy installation while delivering maximum performance, making it the ideal solution for this project. ✅

Happy World Green Roof Day! 🌱

To mark the occasion, we'd like to celebrate the many green roofs across our cities and coastlines that support biodiversity, improve urban environments, and mitigate climate change.

One of our projects that showcases the potential of green roof systems is our Innovation Hub at Durley Chine Beach, where a biodiverse green roof was installed to create a thriving habitat for wildlife while demonstrating the practical and environmental benefits these systems offer.

Today is a reminder that green roofs are more than just an aesthetic feature. We hope that World Green Roof Day continues to raise awareness of the role they play in creating more sustainable environments. 🌍

This story fascinating example of how green spaces can be integrated into healthcare environments.

A new intensive care rooftop at King's College Hospital in south London is the first of its kind in the UK, and Hollie Allan is the first to be cared for safely outdoors, with all the support she needs. 💚 🙌

Its space is enough for six patients, with power and oxygen supplies connected to each patient's bed. It means that patients like Hollie can spend several hours in the outdoor ward at a time.

Research has shown that access to fresh air and natural environments can improve patient well-being and even help reduce hospital stays. These canopies and garden spaces, filled with plants and flowers, have been designed to support this. 🌿

Could we see more healthcare facilities incorporating green spaces into their designs in the future?

The outdoor ward, at King's College Hospital in London, will monitor how much it boosts the recovery of seriously ill patients.

It was great to be out yesterday visiting JOLP, where we delivered two CPDs focused on Green Roofs and Bespoke Fabrications.

The sessions covered a range of topics, including the benefits of green roofing systems, design considerations, sustainability, and how bespoke aluminium fabrications can help bring architectural visions to life.

A big thank you to the practice for the warm welcome and engaging discussions throughout the day. It was a pleasure meeting the team and sharing insight into the solutions we can offer.

If you’re interested in joining one of our RIBA-Approved CPD seminars, you can book your spot with us today.

🔙 ThrowbackThursday to 2017, when we completed one of our largest sedum green roof projects.

The Unite Student Accommodation in Edinburgh, proved to be a challenging one as we were faced with snow, blizzards and heavy rain.

Nevertheless, our team did a fantastic job installing an impressive 1,600 m² of green roof on a 7-storey building, with access supported by two tower cranes.

It was a true logistical challenge but also a great example of what can be achieved with the right planning and expertise. ✅

This week, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming Ava, a Year 10 student, who joined ICB as part of her work experience. 👋

Ava has expressed a keen interest in marketing, so she naturally fit into our marketing team, where she could experience the day-to-day activities of our busy environment.

Throughout the week, we introduced her to a few marketing fundamentals, including content writing. ✒️

We’d like to share a blog that Ava has successfully researched, written and uploaded, about the different types of green roofs, which you can find on our website.

It’s been a pleasure having Ava with us this week, and we wish her every success in her future studies. 😃

🔙 ThrowbackThursday to 2024 in Wimbledon, when the BMC Roofing team put in a brilliant effort to get this project finished in superb style. 👏

They expertly waterproofed the roof using the alwitra® Evalon VSK membrane and topped it off with a beautiful Sedum Green Roof system supplied by ICB (Projects) Ltd.

The ICB (Fabrications) Ltd team also played their part by supplying and manufacturing the bespoke aluminium fascias and soffits in a Reed Green powder-coat finish. 🎨

Well done to everyone involved in this project! 🙌
