As the boating season comes to an end, now is the perfect time to think about winterising your boat and protecting your investment.

Boats contain many systems that don’t like being left unused for long periods, especially the engine. A little maintenance before winter can help prevent costly damage and ensure you’re ready to get back on the water when spring arrives! 🚤

🔧 Our top winterisation tips:

✅ Clean and inspect your engine – Look for leaks, corrosion and signs of wear. Keep your engine bay clean and dry.

✅ Look after your fuel system – Check your fuel and consider a suitable fuel stabiliser to help protect it during storage.

✅ Change your engine oil and filter – Old oil can contain contaminants that may contribute to corrosion and engine wear.

✅ Check your gearbox or outdrive oil – Milky or cloudy oil can indicate water contamination and should be investigated.

✅ Protect your cooling system – Follow your engine manufacturer's winterisation instructions. Depending on your setup, this may involve draining the raw-water system or circulating the correct marine antifreeze.

✅ Protect your engine and fuel system – Suitable fogging oil and fuel treatments can help protect compatible engines during periods of storage.

✅ Look after your batteries – Keep them charged and follow the manufacturer's storage recommendations.

✅ Check belts, hoses and impellers – Identify worn or damaged components before the next season.
