Its now 10 years since the fire engulfed the Samuel Whites Industrial Estate in Cowes, text is copied and pasted from a memory 9 years ago.

Exactly 1 year ago today our fabrication and welding business, FB Fabrications based at the John Samuel Whites Estate in Cowes was one of many business`s destroyed or badly affected by a huge fire that engulfed the industrial estate that originated from a garage on the estate, TJ Motors.
The last 12 months have been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster with more downs than ups, my business partner, Robert Blakely and I have struggled through and come out the other side, not something I`d wish on anyone, I think I`ve aged 10 years in the last 12 months, but one thing you do learn is who your real friends are when the chips are down, be it suppliers, customers and friends outside of work, so to those that have offered help and support in the last year, thank you so much it has really been appreciated.
Being self-employed is bloody hard work, you work all hours to build up your business and then suffer the pitfalls along the way, with customers going into administration, 4 years ago we lost £135,000 and were eventually paid out by the administrator nearly 3 years later the princely sum of £5000! But you soldier on, even after your business goes up in smoke through no fault of your own and go at it again, so onwards and upwards, “this time next year Rodney”…..

Fast forward to the present, Rab is enjoying retirement, I`m now based up the road up at Somerton and ticking along nicely with another 3 years to go before I can put my feet up😊
It just goes to show how your path in life can suddenly change course, but you just get on with it, and look back later and think, s**t, really?!!

Very interesting project for a customer with a dog with only 1 front leg, you see lots of dog wheelchairs for dogs missing back legs, but hardly any for dogs needing the wheels at the front.
Made from stainless steel to be as strong, and light as possible , this will hopefully keep an elderly but energetic spaniel mobile for many years to come.the customer is adapting, developing the harness , hopefully we can show some photos of it in action very soon.

October has been a busy month so far, a selection of various sized stainless steel security panels to help make a clients outbuildings secure, a pair of aluminium ramps for Cowes Yacht Haven , and a couple of hundred stainless steel eyebolts to be made up for another local business.
