A lovely bit of recognition for the Bridmet team this week 😊

We’re really pleased to have been Highly Commended in the Recognising Excellence in Volunteering in South West England 2025–2026 awards for our work with young people and STEM.

Over the last year, we’ve been getting out into schools, working with Dorset Careers Hub and Yeovil College, offering work experience and showing young people what a career in engineering and manufacturing can actually look like.

BRIDMET BREAKFAST 🥓

We kicked off the week with breakfast for all staff this morning.

A big thank you to Jurassic pork catering for supplying the breakfast baps. Catering for everyone was no mean feat, but they did a great job and the breakfast was very well received!

It was a small way of saying thank you to everyone for the effort they’ve put in over what has been a very busy summer.

Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen!

Last week we welcomed our apprentices’ friends and families to Bridmet for a lovely afternoon.

We showed everyone around the factory, answered questions, enjoyed some refreshments and gave parents and guardians a chance to see where their apprentices will be learning and developing their skills when they join us this week.

The afternoon then led into our Apprentice Awards, with Directors presenting awards to recognise the hard work and achievements of our current apprentices.

We’ll be sharing more about our award winners over the coming months, so keep an eye on our socials! 🏆

We’re really proud to work closely with Yeovil College and to see this fantastic investment in engineering and technical education.

How lucky are we to have this right on our doorstep and within reach of so many of our apprentices? It’s a brilliant opportunity for young people in our area and great to see the continued focus on engineering, manufacturing and the skills our industry needs.

We’re looking forward to continuing our close relationship with Yeovil College and supporting the next generation of engineers as our new apprentices join us next week.

Well... our raft didn't quite survive the Bridport Raft Race this year! 🌊

Thankfully, our team spirit lasted a lot longer, and thanks to everyone's generosity we raised an amazing £520 for our local RNLI branch.

We also think our costumes deserve a mention! A big shout out to Paul for his brilliant homemade crab costume 🦀 and Kavi for the fantastic face paint – both looked the part!

A huge well done to everyone who took part. We may not have made it to the finish in one piece, but we had a brilliant evening and raised money for a fantastic cause.

A huge thank you to WB Alloy Welding Products Ltd for their generous sponsorship and for donating our costumes, and to Bridport Building Supplies for supplying the paint!

And the most surprising bit? The team have already said they'd do it all again... shocking! 😂

We'll be back next year – hopefully with a raft that's a little more seaworthy!

And that's a wrap!

Work Experience 2026 is officially complete, finishing on this blue and black contrast toolbox.

This year we supported a record number of students through the programme – thanks to everyone who got involved.

Now it's time to start planning next year's project... 👀 Watch this space!

And just like that, we're back with another event! 👋

For the second year running, Bridport Round Table is proudly supporting the Bridport and District fundraising branch of the RNLI in organising the famous raft race! 🚣‍♂️🚣‍♀️

20 home built rafts navigating the half mile course. Come and join in the fun! Make sure you stock up on plenty of water balloons🎈

All proceeds from this event go directly to the RNLI who do a fantastic job of keeping our waters safe for everyone to enjoy.

We look forward to seeing you there!
