π EICR Remedial Works in Yateley β Fault Found & Rectified
We returned to a property in Yateley, Hampshire this morning following an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) that we carried out last week.
The report was unfortunately deemed unsatisfactory after our testing identified an open neutral conductor on the upstairs socket ring circuit.
Upon arriving this morning, the customer already had the kettle on ready to go β always a great start to the job! βπ
After safely isolating the circuit, we began removing and inspecting each of the upstairs sockets. There were approximately eight double sockets on the circuit, and fortunately we located the problem at socket number four.
As you can see from the photo, the neutral conductor had completely come out of the socket terminal, resulting in the loss of continuity identified during the EICR.
We re-stripped and correctly re-terminated the conductor before carrying out further testing to confirm that continuity had been restored and the circuit was operating correctly.

Another great example of why an EICR isnβt simply a visual inspection. Electrical testing can identify faults and defects that may otherwise remain hidden behind sockets, switches and accessories.
