What are delegates hoping to achieve by attending the slit lamp skills courses?

When asked this morning, delegates shared a wide range of goals. Some wanted a more structured approach to slit lamp examinations, while others were looking for dedicated training time - something that can be difficult to find in a busy clinic environment. Many were keen to avoid developing bad habits, and others wanted guidance on what to look for and in what order during an examination.

Whatever their individual objectives, our aim is the same: to ensure every delegate leaves feeling confident in their ability to perform a thorough slit lamp examination, with their key questions answered and a clearer understanding of best practice.

❓How do you grade the severity of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP)? We were delighted to take the Eyesi Indirect Ophthalmoscope ROP Simulator to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital last week to support a teaching session on that topic.

The simulator was used to identify signs associated with the different stages of ROP and what region of the retina is affected. The teaching session was expertly delivered by Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist Narman Puvanachandra, with HS-UK Product Manager Anna Chen assisting.

The Eyesi Indirect ROP is an advanced mixed reality simulator for training of retinal examinations on preterm infants, classification of ROP, and practicing laser therapy. Find out more here👉 https://hs-uk.co/EyesiROP

Ophthalmic photographers from Aintree University Hospital elevated their skills with BX 900 slit lamp training last week. HS-UK Product Manager and 'Imaging Expert' Gemma Edwards led the training on Haag-Streit’s renowned ‘photographer’s slit lamp’.

Gemma said: "I was truly impressed by the skill and expertise of the Aintree Ophthalmic Imaging Team. I am confident that the BX 900 will enhance their photographic capabilities and support them with maintaining their high standard of patient care."

This is the second BX system for the Trust, following the installation of the first at Royal Liverpool University Hospital last year.
