If you’ve seen the ET-200 and wondered what’s different — the ET-200 adds dual voltage (115V/230V) and PFC, which means it’ll run off a smaller generator and pushes a bit more duty cycle. Handy if you’re on site a lot. If you’re mainly working off the mains in the workshop, the EPT-200 does the same job for less.

Air-fed welding helmets — why they’re not optional for a lot of jobs

Quick one on the legal side. A few years back the HSE tightened up the rules around welding fume — mild steel fume is now treated exactly the same as fume from stainless or any other alloy, and it’s officially recognised as a carcinogen. General workshop ventilation on its own isn’t classed as good enough anymore.

Welding indoors — you need proper extraction (LEV) at the point of welding.
Welding outdoors, or anywhere extraction can’t reach — you need to be wearing suitable RPE.
Whatever RPE you’re using needs to actually fit right and be looked after, not just handed out and left in a bag.

That’s where powered air-fed helmets come in. Rather than a basic mask, these have a battery-powered fan unit that pulls air through a filter and feeds it straight into the helmet — so you’ve got a constant supply of clean air while you’re welding, and you’re not stuck breathing in what you’re working on.
