The Joint Congress of Pediatric Surgery in Vienna brought together a global community united by one goal: advancing surgical care for children.

A key highlight was the Sybill Storz Lecture, held by Prof. Holger Till. With great clarity and depth, he honored the life’s work of Dr. h. c. mult. Sybill Storz and her belief that children deserve technology designed specifically for their needs—guided by responsibility, intention, and care. Our sincere thanks to Prof. Till for this powerful and thought-provoking contribution.

Her vision fundamentally shaped minimally invasive pediatric surgery: reducing harm, improving outcomes, and elevating standards worldwide through innovation, education, and close collaboration with pediatric surgeons.

Looking ahead, the lecture also set a clear mandate for the future: advancing pediatric-specific technologies, intelligent visualization, global education, and equitable access. Because progress without accessibility remains ethically incomplete.

We remain committed to this responsibility—today and for generations to come. Together, we shape the future of pediatric surgery.

Addressing climate change requires clear goals—and concrete action.

Our for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions sets out a transparent reduction pathway through 2037, and supports our long‑term ambition to be CO2 neutral by 2045.

To get there, we are focusing on four key levers:

🔌 Transitioning all sites worldwide to certified green electricity by 2026

☀️ Expanding on‑site renewable energy generation, primarily through photovoltaics

⚙️ Improving energy efficiency across infrastructure and processes

🚗 Gradually converting our global company car fleet to alternative drivetrains

While ambitious climate action can significantly reduce emissions, some residual emissions will remain unavoidable. These will be addressed through high‑quality climate‑protection projects as part of our net‑zero approach for Scope 1 and Scope 2.

And we’re already looking ahead: alongside this strategy, we are working to systematically capture and analyze Scope 3 emissions across our value chain—an essential next step on our climate journey.

👉 More details on our progress, priorities, and next steps will be shared in our Sustainability Progress Report, to be published at the end of the month.

Smarter surgery starts here—and it’s already live!

With the first OR1™ X Pro installation at Tübingen University Hospital, we are bringing intelligent, data‑driven operating rooms into real clinical practice.

Even ahead of the official launch in mid‑June, the impact is clear: more intuitive workflows, less complexity, and a system that works quietly in the background. The Tübingen University Hospital is a long-standing healthcare partner with outstanding expertise to exchange on the future of healthcare, and we are very pleased to be able to support their work—in this case, especially improving women’s health.

Professor Sara Y. Brucker, Medical Director of the Women’s Clinic, said during the inauguration: “For us, the new operating room represents a true milestone.”

So, we are extremely excited and are counting down the days to the official launch of our next OR1™ generation—so stay tuned!

Pssst: Further installations are already underway in Berlin, Germany, and across Norway. Let’s shape the future of and improve patients’ outcomes!

Today, the UK is celebrating National Operating Department Practitioners (ODP) Day—recognising the incredible professionals who play a vital role behind the scenes of every surgical procedure.

From preparing patients for theatre to supporting surgery and recovery, ODPs are the heart of safe, high-quality care. Their expertise, precision and dedication help ensure every patient receives the support they need, every step of the way.

We're proud to recognise the work of ODPs alongside the College of Operating Department Practitioners (CODP), and the impact they make every day.
