Openair-Plasma® technology, from which derives the awarded nano-coating technology PlasmaPlus®, is protected internationally by patents and is employed today in almost all fields of industrial production. Materials such as plastic, metal, glass or ceramics are cleaned and simultaneously activated or functionally plasma coated inline within a matter of seconds. The dual effect of microfine cleaning

and simultaneous strong activation far outweighs the effectiveness of conventional systems. Pretreatment with Openair-Plasma® causes a targeted and exactly adjustable increase in the wettability and thus the adhesiveness of material surfaces. This produces a homogeneous paint finish and long-time stable adhesion of the coating even under the most challenging load conditions. Which delivers the required surface functionality while ensuring process reliability, product quality, and efficiency?

That was the focus of our recent Openair-Plasma® and AURORA-Plasma seminar at the Plasmatreat Academy in Steinhagen, Germany.

Attendees gained practical insights into atmospheric and low-pressure plasma technologies, their strengths, application areas, and the critical factors that influence process performance.

The hands-on laboratory sessions transformed theory into experience. Participants had the chance to treat and analyze different materials, connecting surface science directly with real manufacturing challenges.

By combining theory, practical testing, and technical discussion, the seminar provided participants with a clearer understanding of how to select the right plasma process for their specific application.

Many bonding, coating, and printing issues are diagnosed too late. The root cause often starts at the surface.
Surface properties are often the hidden variable behind inconsistent quality, weak adhesion, and unstable manufacturing processes.

For manufacturers of household appliances, where glass, plastics, stainless steel, and decorative materials frequently come together, surface preparation plays a critical role in achieving repeatable results.

In our upcoming "Surface Treatment for Household Appliances with Openair-Plasma®", we'll explore how Openair-Plasma® and PlasmaPlus® support inline surface activation and cleaning to improve downstream bonding, printing, coating, and sealing performance.

When a bond fails, the adhesive is often blamed. But reality is more complex.

Reliable bonding starts with the surface. Parameters like dirt and surface energy influence adhesion as well. This is particularly challenging for plastics. The unpolarity makes is difficult for adhesives, coatings, and inks to wet the surface evenly, often leading to inconsistent results.

Arçelik, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of household appliances and consumer electronics from Turkey, faced this challenge and searched for an alternative to manual primer processes in production.
The goal was clear: improve quality, efficiency, and sustainability.

➡️ At the K trade show 2022, Arçelik connected with Plasmatret and discovered the surface pretratment with atmospheric plasma as the solution to its adhesion challenges.

Eine Woche, zwei Laufevents, jede Menge Teamgeist! 💙

Beim AOK Firmenlauf in Bielefeld und beim Grafschaftslauf, der von Rietberg bis zum Jagdschloss in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock führt, waren unsere Kolleginnen und Kollegen mit voller Motivation am Start. Ob 5 km, 10 km oder sogar 28,5 km, für jedes Laufniveau war die passende Strecke dabei. 🏃🏃‍♀️

Am meisten freuen wir uns aber darüber, gemeinsam als Team aktiv zu sein, uns gegenseitig anzufeuern und gemeinsam Spaß zu haben.

Reflecting on my internship, here are five things that stood out to me:

1. International Team 🤝
Our departments bring together people from all over the world. You don't have to be a native German speaker to work here.

2. Global Reach 🌐
Plasmatreat has a presence in more than 30 countries. During my internship, I had multiple opportunities to communicate directly with international partners.

3. Real Career Growth 📈
I finally got to see a concept from my lectures play out in real life: management vs. leadership. I can say Plasmatreat is filled with leaders who actually care. Getting close access to department heads meant real mentorship for my career and my future.

4. Cultural Diversity 🎨
Everyone here interacts with colleagues from different backgrounds, yet the mutual respect for one another's culture is something you feel every day.

What began in Steinhagen in 1995 is now in use in industrial manufacturing facilities around the world.

The Faktor3 magazine highlights Plasmatreat’s development, from its first applications of Openair-Plasma® technology to its transformation into an internationally active company that specializes in industrial surface treatment, especially for plastics.

🌍 To this day, our technologies are developed, tested, and manufactured in Steinhagen. From there, and through our global subsidiaries, we support customers in making manufacturing processes more efficient and sustainable.
