It was a privilege to be part of the inaugural South African SCHWIND Users Meeting (SUMSA26), hosted by SCHWIND in collaboration with Hitech Lasers in the remarkable setting of the Cradle of Humankind, South Africa.
SUMSA26 reflected what SCHWIND stands for: meaningful progress through personal connection and open dialogue. As part of our commitment to the global SCHWIND community, we continue to invest in focused regional meetings that bring users and experts together to share experience, address challenges, and explore new possibilities in refractive surgery.
The scientific programme delivered outstanding value, combining international perspectives on refractive surgery, personalised treatment planning, corneal therapeutics, and emerging technologies with practical insights from South African surgeons grounded in daily clinical experience. The result was a rich and highly relevant exchange of knowledge.
Most importantly, the meeting fostered a strong spirit of collaboration - bringing together SCHWIND users, future users, faculty, and partners in an environment that encouraged open discussion and meaningful professional connection.
