Zwei intensive Tage beim Deutschen Gießereitag 2026 in Göttingen liegen hinter uns - und für uns als ABP Induction war die Veranstaltung weit mehr als nur ein Branchentreffen. Sie war ein starkes Zeichen dafür, wie eng unsere Industrie gerade zusammenrückt, um die großen Herausforderungen der Zukunft gemeinsam anzugehen.

Für uns war es wichtig, als Sponsor und Aussteller Teil dieses wichtigen Events zu sein und den direkten Austausch mit Kunden, Partnern und vielen bekannten Gesichtern aus der Branche zu führen. Besonders wertvoll war für uns die Vielzahl offener Gespräche mit Entscheidern, Gießereien und Technologiepartnern über die Themen, die unsere Industrie aktuell bewegen: Dekarbonisierung, Digitalisierung, Fachkräftemangel, geopolitische Veränderungen und der steigende Wettbewerbsdruck. Hier hat unser Team vor Ort eine Menge mitgenommen.

Gerade beim Thema Digitalisierung wurde deutlich, welches Potenzial in intelligenten Prozessen und datenbasierten Lösungen steckt. Mit der Teilnahme unseres Global Head of Digital Solutions, Albert Miller, an der Panel-Diskussion zur Digitalisierung der Gießerei-Industrie konnten wir wichtige Impulse setzen und zeigen, dass Digitalisierung kein Selbstzweck ist, sondern ein entscheidender Hebel für Effizienz, Produktivität und Zukunftsfähigkeit in der Gießereiindustrie.

Neben den fachlichen Diskussionen nehmen wir vor allem eines mit: den Eindruck einer Branche, die trotz aller Herausforderungen bereit ist, Veränderungen aktiv zu gestalten. Genau dieser Austausch, diese Offenheit und dieses gemeinsame Arbeiten an Lösungen machen Veranstaltungen wie den Deutschen Gießereitag so wertvoll.

AISTech 2026 in Pittsburgh once again proves to be a key meeting point for the global iron and steel community. ABP Induction is proud to be part of it – with a clear message: the path to decarbonizing industrial process heat is both technologically feasible and economically viable.

A key highlight so far has been the presentation by Dr. Marco Rische, our Director of System Business. He demonstrated how inductive heating and melting technologies can play a central role in the gradual electrification of existing steel production facilities.

By combining conventional furnace systems with induction technology in hybrid concepts, significant potential can be unlocked: reduced energy consumption, lower CO₂ emissions, improved process stability, and enhanced product quality. Using practical examples from rolling mills and smelting processes, the presentation provided concrete insights into how these approaches can already be implemented today.

Meet the ABP experts at the international spring trade fairs in May!

At , held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, ABP Induction will present innovative approaches to decarbonizing industrial process heat in the steel industry. The presentation will focus on inductive heating and melting technologies as the key to the gradual electrification of existing facilities. Of course, the ABP team will also have a booth at the event.

German Foundry Day: May 20-21, 2026, in Göttingen, Germany
The German Foundry Day is the forum for shaping the transformation of the foundry industry together. To this end, the Federal Association of the German Foundry Industry (BDG) is bringing the sector together for the largest industry gathering in Germany. German Foundry Day 2026 will take place on May 20 and 21 at the LOKHALLE Göttingen. ABP Induction will be represented with a booth and will also take the stage.

With the latest edition of ABP News, we take a focused look at the topics shaping our industry – and, more importantly, how they are being put into practice.

A key highlight is the ongoing transformation of the industry, from decarbonization to advanced technological and digital solutions. One outstanding example is the joint project with Beinbauer Group, where a state-of-the-art electric melting facility replaces a traditional cupola furnace, paving the way for significantly reduced CO₂ emissions.

At the same time, the importance of collaboration across the industry becomes clear: the newly established Digitalization Committee of the BDG - Bundesverband der Deutschen Gießerei-Industrie e.V. brings together more than 60 experts to actively shape the future of the foundry industry. ABP Induction was pleased to participate in the 4th European Green Steel Summit 2026 in Düsseldorf – a key industry platform bringing together steel producers, technology providers and decision-makers to discuss the future of low-carbon steel production.

The discussions at this year’s summit made one thing very clear: the steel industry is no longer debating whether to decarbonize, but how to do so under real industrial and economic conditions. High energy costs, regulatory pressure and global competition continue to shape the pace and direction of transformation.

In this context, Dr.-Ing. Marco Rische, our Director System Business, presented together with H-Iron GmbH “From Carbon Challenge to Carbon Opportunity: A Practical Path to Decarbonized Steel.” The presentation focused on a pragmatic perspective: bridging the gap between ambitious decarbonization targets and feasible implementation pathways.

A key takeaway from both the presentation and the broader conference discussions is that no single technology will deliver full decarbonization on its own. Instead, progress depends on combining complementary solutions that are available, scalable and economically viable.

Our approach highlighted three central levers:

• Methane pyrolysis as an alternative hydrogen pathway, producing hydrogen without direct CO₂ emissions while generating solid carbon as a usable by-product

• Electrification of thermal processes through induction technology, enabling the replacement of fossil-fuel-based heating in melting, reheating and heat treatment applications

• System integration across the value chain, combining hydrogen, electrification and material reuse to achieve measurable emission reductions step by step

Another important theme throughout the summit was the growing need for modular and incremental solutions. Large-scale transformation projects remain essential, but many are delayed due to cost, infrastructure and market uncertainties. In parallel, there is increasing recognition that immediate progress can be achieved through technologies that can be integrated into existing operations.

This reinforces a central message: Decarbonization must be both ambitious and practical.

The conversations in Düsseldorf also underlined the importance of collaboration across the entire ecosystem – from technology providers to steel producers, energy partners and policymakers. Only through such cooperation will it be possible to move from pilot projects to scalable industrial solutions.

Der BDG - Bundesverband der Deutschen Gießerei-Industrie e.V. hat mit dem neuen Fachausschuss Digitalisierung eine wichtige Plattform geschaffen, um die digitale Transformation der Branche aktiv voranzutreiben.

Wir bei ABP Induction begrüßen diese Initiative ausdrücklich – denn eines wurde bei der Auftakt-Tagung in Düsseldorf deutlich: Digitalisierung ist in der Gießerei-Industrie längst kein Zukunftsthema mehr, sondern ein zentraler Hebel für Wettbewerbsfähigkeit, Effizienz und Innovation.

Und wir können sagen, dass wir sehr stolz sind, dass mit Albert Miller, unserem Global Head of Digital Solutions, ein ausgewiesener Experte aus unserem Haus den Vorsitz dieses richtungsweisenden Fachausschusses übernimmt. Wir haben bei ABP schon vor einigen Jahren die Digitalisierung als Megatrend für die metallverarbeitende Industrie identifiziert und sie als Pionier entsprechend ganzheitlich in unsere Strategie integriert.

Die Auftaktveranstaltung mit rund 60 Teilnehmenden aus Industrie, Forschung, IT und Zulieferbereich hat jetzt gezeigt, worauf es ankommt: Auch die Branche denkt Digitalisierung zunehmend ganzheitlich – von der Datenerfassung über den Einsatz von KI bis hin zu Strategie, Organisation und Innovationskultur.

Gleichzeitig wurde deutlich, dass die größten Fortschritte dort entstehen, wo Unternehmen offen ihre Herausforderungen teilen und gemeinsam Lösungen entwickeln. Ein zentrales Ergebnis der Diskussionen bringt einen entscheidenden Spannungsbogen auf den Punkt: Der Fachkräftemangel trifft auf die Sorge vor Automatisierung.

Für uns ist klar: Digitalisierung ersetzt keine Menschen – sie macht vorhandene Ressourcen wirksamer und schafft neue Handlungsspielräume.

Genau deshalb braucht es Plattformen wie diesen Fachausschuss: für ehrlichen Austausch, neue Perspektiven und den Mut, gewohnte Denkweisen zu hinterfragen.

Und der nächste Schritt ist bereits gesetzt: Die Ergebnisse des Fachausschusses werden weiter verdichtet und beim Deutschen Gießereitag 2026 am 20. und 21. Mai in der LOKHALLE Göttingen in die Branche zurückgespielt – als Impuls für noch mehr Austausch, Orientierung und konkrete Umsetzung.
