Q: The pump has arrived on site, but the construction will not be completed until the end of the year. Do we need to rotate the pump during this period?
A-1: If the pump is not in a hot state or running, frequent turning is not required. At this point, it is important to take protective measures such as dust and water prevention, especially for the import and export parts.
A-2: It is generally recommended to turn the pump around twice a month and lubricate it appropriately. However, it should be noted that some pump manufacturers may have specific requirements or limitations, and it is recommended to consult the pump manufacturer in advance for accurate guidance.
A-3: According to the "Maintenance and Inspection Regulations for Petrochemical Equipment" (SHS 01001), standby pumps should be turned regularly, usually at least once a week. Rotate the shaft more than 1.5 turns each time and mark the position after turning to ensure that it stops at a different angle each time, thereby reducing the risk of shaft deformation caused by prolonged standing.
The "SH/T 3538-2017 Construction and Acceptance Specification for Petrochemical Machinery and Equipment Installation Engineering" also mentions that the maintenance of standby pumps should include regular turning to prevent shaft bending or bearing jamming.
A-4: Regular turning is required to prevent shaft bending, and oil should be added to ensure that the bearings are fully lubricated during the turning process, preventing the upper part of the bearings from being exposed to dew point corrosion in the air for a long time due to lack of lubrication caused by not turning. Pay attention to the direction of the turning wheel and do not reverse it, especially when using a one-way pump with dry gas seal. After the test drive, be careful not to hold the pump when turning the displacement pump.
