The study independently evaluated five commercially available Mpox Antigen Rapid Diagnostic Tests (Ag-RDTs) using clinical lesion swab samples collected in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, one of the countries most affected by mpox outbreaks.
🔬 Key Highlights
✅ Hotgen's Mpox Antigen Rapid Test was selected by FIND among five internationally available commercial assays for independent evaluation.
✅ The study demonstrated high specificity of 96.8%, indicating strong reliability in identifying true negative cases.
✅ For Clade Ib Mpox virus, the strain driving the recent outbreaks in Africa, Hotgen achieved a sensitivity of 74.1%, highlighting its value for outbreak screening and decentralized testing.
✅ Researchers emphasized that antigen rapid tests can play an important complementary role in resource-limited settings where PCR testing is not readily available.
As global efforts continue to strengthen mpox surveillance and outbreak preparedness, Hotgen remains committed to delivering accessible, rapid, and reliable diagnostic solutions for emerging infectious diseases.
