🔍 Bump Test vs. Calibration — What's the Difference?

If you rely on a gas detector to keep you safe, knowing the difference between these two checks could save your life.

✅ Bump Test
A quick "pass/fail" check. A small amount of known gas is applied to the sensor to confirm it detects gas and the alarm activates. Takes seconds and should be done before every shift.

🎯 Calibration
A more thorough process that adjusts the sensor's readings against a known gas concentration to ensure accuracy. If a bump test fails, calibration is usually the next step to get your detector back to spec.

💡 Bottom line: Bump test daily, calibrate regularly (per manufacturer guidelines or when a bump test fails).
