Barton Park Banksia is an organised sporting and recreational park in Sydney's south, and it came with an unusual set of challenges.

The exterior lighting needed switching, dimming, sensor technology, time clock integration, and the ability to set illumination levels across various scenarios, all without a dedicated automated control system due to budget constraints.

Lighting designer Bettina Easton from Cundall recommended CoLab, and we got to work finding a solution that fit both the brief and the budget.

Working with Tridonic, we landed on a combination of DALI-2 dimming and Casambi wireless technology, complete with full technical documentation for the team at Sublime Electrical.

We attended site after installation to assist with commissioning and make sure the system was fully understood before handover.

As Timothy McCann, Director of Sublime Electrical, put it: "We were impressed with the attention given to the project by CoLab and their responsiveness to the task."

With a capacity of 83,000 seats used for both major sports events and large-scale concerts, Accor Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park is one of the most valued venues for entertainment throughout Sydney 🏟️

For a public space like this, good illumination is already a necessity, but great lighting is what takes it to the next level.

When we were engaged by Stowe Australia to help them deliver an upgrade to the lighting systems in Accor Stadium’s highest traffic areas, we were excited to collaborate and provide two of our premium lighting products for the venue.

In the level 1 concourse, you can spot our Aqualuma-50 Suspended linear lighting systems hanging from the ceiling and providing cool white lighting as people find their seats or grab a bevvy between rounds of footy.

On level’s 2 South Terrace, we also provided Zen-60 hanging luminaires with an RGBW colour profile. The brief was to fill the ceiling area but not overcrowd it, and these circular luminaires provide the perfect balance of space, colour variety and lighting to properly highlight the Terrace.

This was a fantastic project to collaborate on with a beautiful outcome that not only met, but exceeded the expectations of the Sydney Olympic Park team.

Meet Gaetano, our second-in-command for CoLab's Operations department!

In his role, Gaetano keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes by making sure stock is allocated, orders are fulfilled, and that the whole production team stays coordinated.

Humble, helpful, and always hard at work, Gaetano's got a quirky sense of humour that you catch a glimpse of while he's at lunch.

It's people like him who keep our Kingsgrove facility humming, making sure every order gets out the door on time.
