Mikala Dwyer's Monuments for Fishes honours the coastal fisherwomen who used this site long before the towers arrived, and Kenneth Slessor's *Five Bells*. Five structures, in a circle, riding the tide.

CoLab supplied the internal luminaire systems that light them after dark: IP67/IP68, salt-spray rated, dimmable and fine-tuned so the glow reads across the water without spilling into the apartments behind it.

One of the world's largest floating kinetic artworks, crossing Sydney Harbour.

Sixteen tonnes, under tow, across Sydney Harbour.

Monuments for Fishes is one of the world's largest floating kinetic artworks, five sculptures arranged in a circle, engineered to sway with the harbour's tides and double as reef habitat for marine life.

Anything CoLab put inside them had to accept that movement for years: salt-spray corrosion resistance, IP67/IP68 submersion rating, high impact rating for constant kinetic stress. Designed to move with it, not resist it.

Thermal management, hermetic seals, IP68.

The hard part wasn't the light. It was getting power 22.6 metres up a structure that never stops moving.

CoLab's solution for Monuments for Fishes: a 380VDC feed stepped down to 24VDC inside the sculpture, engineered to AS/NZS 3000, with hermetic internal seals running through 20mm stainless steel channels, lightning grounding, and thermal management sized for a sealed carbon fibre body.

Zero voltage drop, top to bottom. Custom component engineering, tested and delivered in days.

Uniform light across 22.6 metres, with zero voltage drop top to bottom.

22.6 metres of carbon fibre, and every metre of it has to glow evenly.

That's the brief CoLab was handed for Monuments for Fishes at Waterman's Cove. Precision light guidance for uniform interior illumination across the full height. Directional optics so none of it spills toward the apartments across the water. A 380VDC-24VDC system holding zero voltage drop end to end.

The result is a sculpture that reads as one continuous body of light, not a stack of lit sections.

Five sculptures. Sixteen tonnes each. One lighting system that had to survive Sydney Harbour.

Before anything floated, the sections were laid out and staged on a wharf at Barangaroo, final assembly and fit-out happening at the water's edge.

Five carbon fibre-fibreglass structures for Mikala Dwyer's Monuments for Fishes, each one 22.6 metres tall and around 16 tonnes. CoLab designed, sourced and supplied the internal luminaire systems that make them glow from within after dark.

Salt spray, submersion, constant kinetic movement. The lighting had to be engineered for all three before a single piece went in the water. Delivered in days, ahead of schedule and under budget.

Indirect by design. Low glare by default.

Light fires internally and reflects out.

Most bollards throw light at you. The Urban BL90 doesn't. The source sits hidden inside the extrusion, firing up into a reflector, so what reaches the path is soft, even and symmetrical. Ninety lumens per watt. IP66, IK10, built from extruded aluminium and rated for over fifty thousand hours. Indirect by design. Low glare by default.

14 floors. Zero room for error. This is what a hospital rollout looks like.

Some jobs are big. Some jobs are technical. Nepean Hospital Redevelopment was both. CoLab supplied downlights and indirect LED ceiling panel troffers across all 14 floors of the new Kingswood facility, working alongside Star Group (lighting design), BVN Architecture and CPB Contractors on one of Western Sydney's major health infrastructure builds.

Clinical areas needed lighting calibrated to correctly present cyanosis. The Cyanosis Observation Index (COI) is a specialised metric used in medical and hospital lighting to measure how well a light source renders skin colour, so healthcare workers can accurately detect cyanosis, a bluish discolouration of the skin and lips caused by oxygen deficiency in the blood.

Get that spec wrong and you're not just missing an aesthetic mark, you're compromising a diagnostic tool clinicians rely on.

Ground floor: woodwork, metalwork, textiles and Visual Art, four workshops, four different lighting briefs. Upper floor: nine general learning areas. Recessed troffers, 48V track and spots, IP-rated downlights, linear profiles, flexible strip, wall lights.

All of it off one schedule, from one supplier, landing on site together. No chasing six different lead times, no mismatched colour temperatures between floors, no wondering who to ring when something needs sorting.

Installed and running on one DALI network throughout.

Every space at St Columba's had its own brief. Woodwork and metalwork need light you can work under. Textiles and Visual Art need light you can judge colour under. Nine general learning areas need light that holds its target at the back of the room.

So we did the photometrics for all of them before anyone signed anything. Control-ready fixtures, one DALI network, installed by a crew who didn't have to guess at anything.

That's the whole trick. Tight spec up front, clean install after.
