Congratulations to our two junior staff members, Sam & Will, on achieving their gold Duke of Edinburgh award! π₯
GOLD GOLD GOLD
A remarkable story of dedication, resilience, and achievement has unfolded at SGS as three Year 12 students have reached the highest honour in the Duke of Edinburghβs International Award.
Sam L, Hugo S, and Will D have each attained their Gold Award, an extraordinary milestone that reflects years of commitment across service, skill development, physical recreation, and adventurous journeys.
Their journey began in 2022 at the Bronze level. From those early steps, they showed determination, teamwork, and a mindset built on never giving up.
Through challenges, setbacks, and new experiences, they continued to push forward, growing stronger with every stage.
Teacher and Duke of Ed Coordinator Mr Garland shared his pride, saying their perseverance and willingness to challenge themselves make them truly deserving of this prestigious recognition.
Reaching Gold is about far more than completing requirements. Along the way, these students developed leadership, independence, problem solving, communication, and time management skills. These are qualities that will guide them far beyond school and into their future pathways.
Their achievement also reflects the strength of the opportunities at SGS, where students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zone, build confidence, and grow into capable and community minded young adults.
A sincere thank you goes to Mr Garland, whose guidance, encouragement, and belief in his students has been instrumental in supporting them throughout every stage of the Award.
This is a proud moment for the entire SGS community. Sam, Hugo, and Will stand as role models, showing what can be achieved through determination, teamwork, and the support of a strong school community.
Congratulations on this outstanding achievement and on building a foundation for lifelong success. We wish you all the very best as you complete your final year at SGS.
