This National Reconciliation Week, we are 'All In' to reflect, listen, and recommit. As part of implementing our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan, we are taking a meaningful step alongside our leadership team to undertake an internal survey across our business. This survey will provide a clearer picture of how our teams engage with reconciliation across the diverse geographic areas where we operate and deliver.

By understanding where gaps exist, we will shape future actions that go beyond acknowledgement, building genuine, lasting alignment with our clients, suppliers and the government agencies we partner with. Reconciliation requires reflection before action. We are doing both.

After 26 years at the helm, founder, Karl Yunker is stepping into new ventures, leaving a legacy deeply embedded in Pensar’s identity and success. From the outset, Karl’s vision, determination and unwavering commitment shaped not only the direction of the business, but also its culture, one grounded in trust, resilience, accountability and a continual pursuit of excellence. His influence has been foundational, laying the groundwork for what Pensar is today.

Supported by a strong and experienced senior leadership team, and with the backing of RSK Australia, Pensar is a sustainable and growing business built on curiosity, capability and a genuine commitment to doing things differently. This next phase reflects both continuity and evolution, honouring the principles established over the past 26 years while embracing new opportunities for growth and innovation.

Karl steps back with confidence, handing leadership to the next generation. This transition also marks an exciting personal milestone, providing the opportunity to pursue new personal and business ventures. Reflecting on his journey, Karl notes the evolution from what started as a one-person operation in his Brisbane unit, to a 300-strong team united by a passion for solving complex challenges and creating lasting impact across Australia. We are pleased to announce the recent appointment of Andrew Kennedy in the role of Executive Manager, Commercial, based in Brisbane.

Andrew brings more than 30 years of experience across the engineering and infrastructure sector, with a strong track record in the delivery and governance of complex major projects in the water, utilities, transport and energy sectors. He has held senior leadership roles across some of Australia’s most significant infrastructure programs and is well regarded for his collaborative approach to project delivery and stakeholder relations.

Andrew will support Pensar’s continued growth in critical infrastructure by strengthening program governance, mobilisation and delivery capability across major programs and projects in Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania while helping build strong partnerships with clients and industry partners. His experience in delivering complex infrastructure programs will further strengthen Pensar’s capabilities and geographic expansion. We are delighted to welcome Andrew to the Pensar team.

We are proud to have recently delivered the Harpers Hill Reservoir and Lochinvar Trunk Main project for Hunter Water. The original steel reservoir, built in the 1950s and holding 0.7 megalitres, has been replaced with a modern 7 megalitre concrete reservoir. This significant increase in storage will better meet current water demand and support future growth for the region.

The project forms part of Hunter Water’s broader program of works to upgrade their infrastructure and improve the reliability of the region’s water network, ensuring the Lower Hunter continues to have safe, dependable drinking water.

It was a great night celebrating industry excellence at the AWA NSW Heads of Water Gala Dinner last Friday evening. We were honoured to have one of our projects recognised as a finalist in the Infrastructure Project Innovation Regional category. A great reflection of the collaboration, expertise and dedication that goes into delivering complex projects.
