⚫ Brian's 2500kg Tilt Flatbed Trailer Build⚫

Brian shared these pictures of his “Covid” trailer built using the 2500kg TILT Flatbed Trailer plans. He used 1.5 – 2 Tonne aluminium Ute flooring which worked out very well.

"I found the plans for a tilt trailer are well set out and are easy to follow. The most helpful info is the sizes of the critical parts i.e. draw bar and rails to know it will meet the stress requirements. The plans are well worth purchasing, and I have also purchased plans for a single axle box trailer" - Brian

🛠️OFF-ROAD CAMPER TRAILER PLAN

The Off-Road Camper Trailer Plan is a tried and tested design that is strong, economical and reasonably simple to manufacture. A generous box area provides plenty of storage space with top access via a lid that also acts as a carrier for items such as bikes, bulky gear or a fold-up tent. Rear access is through a swinging tailgate – also handy for a kitchen (plans not included). Side panels provide additional storage for items such as gas cylinders, batteries or fire wood. A spare wheel carrier is mounted on the drawbar which also has room for a tool box or tent poles storage tube.

Troy’s Hydraulic Tipping Trailer
Troy created a superb work horse that he clearly puts to good use. The trailer sports tough chequer plate mudguards and heavy duty tie-down side rails. The tailgate has a dual hinge system for top or bottom swing to suit the load being tipped. He has used load capable 4WD wheel and tyres, which no doubt would come in handy off road.

We have been proudly providing quality trailer plans since 2008, specifically designed to meet Australian regulations

Key to our success is our senior designer, Deon van Deventer, who is responsible for all things technical here at TrailerPlans. With a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Deon started his career in the automotive industry. As a project engineer with Toyota Manufacturing, he designed plant equipment, supported the development and production of Landcruiser, Hilux, Camry and Corolla vehicles. He led the implementation of AutoCAD at Toyota’s stamping factory and later trained at the high-tech Tahara plant in Japan.

He has proven experience in the trailer industry starting with design and development, through to testing everything from independent suspensions, couplings, off-road trailers and advanced trailer chassis. He has advised and assisted numerous caravan and trailer manufacturers develop their products or solve performance and handling issues. He is also a Queensland Transport Approved Person, authorised to carry out engineering inspections and approve modifications to local and imported vehicles and trailers.

He has travelled the Australian Outback extensively in the name of testing and has had his share of roadside repairs, including a bit of bush welding on Burke Development Rd. It is fair to say that Deon has a respectable firsthand knowledge of Australian conditions and the quality of trailer that is required to survive it.
