Hendra Home Hardware is looking for a local to join the team
We're a family owned Home Hardware store, part of the Mitre 10 group, on Zillman Rd, Hendra and we've been here since the 1980s. One of our team has moved on, so we're after someone from the area to help us out on the floor.
Experience is critical for this one, so it isn't a first job position. We'd love to hear from a mature age person with a trade or hardware background. Maybe you're a retired or semi retired tradie, a builder or handyman who's stepped back from the tools, a keen gardener or DIYer, or someone who has worked in a hardware store before. Our strongest departments are garden, paint, key cutting and general hardware, so if you know your way around plants and potting mixes, can talk paint with confidence and can help someone work out how to fix a tap, hang a door or patch a wall, this could suit you well.
What the job is
Casual, roughly 25 to 35 hours a week, with some flexibility on days
Serving customers, helping them find the right product and giving honest advice
Stock, ordering and keeping the store tidy
Some lifting (timber, cement, potting mix), so you need to be fit enough for that
Computer literate, navigate with keyboard and mouse, able to fill out data in spreadsheets (nothing too complicated)
What we're after
Hardware, garden, paint or trade experience
Good general DIY knowledge and happy to share it
Happy to deal with the public and the trades
Reliable, turns up, gets on with it
Lives locally is a bonus. Hendra, Clayfield, Nundah, Ascot, Northgate, Hamilton, Wooloowin
What you get
$34+ an hour, more on Saturdays
A small, easy going team and an owner who's on the floor with you
