One of the beautiful things about the 1HD-FTE engine is that it is kind of simple. When it comes to tuning, you've got:
- fuel
- boost
- timing
- throttle
- a map sensor voltage clamp
At the end of the day, when you're using relatively routine parts or the car is relatively standard, the facts of the matter are that established and proven tunes can work across multiple vehicles. It doesn't always mean that they're going to be exactly the same because all cars aren't the same. Pumps wear differently, injectors wear differently. Different cars might have a different airbox or a different intercooler, but for the most part, they're all pretty similar. That's a good thing because it means that, for those people who are not nearby to us, they can access our tuning, our hardware, and our support from anywhere in Australia. One of the biggest flaws, though, when it comes to tuning your own car with a module, is that you need to make sure that the car itself is in a tunable condition. Checking for things like:
- boost leaks
- map
- filter cracks
- intake manifold leaks
- air filter and fuel filter condition are all going to be the key things to look out for.
