📸 Do Your Leaf Springs Look Like This?

They might be due for an upgrade.

There’s a common myth floating around that modern dual cab utes are meant to have heavily arched leaf springs. Not true. Most new leaf-sprung vehicles are designed to run longer, flatter springs — and here’s why:

🔧 Modern designs have the springs mounted over the axle, not under like older utes.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Dual cabs aren’t just workhorses anymore — they’re used for families, camping, and everyday life, not just hauling bricks. Suspension has evolved to suit.

🚨 What should you actually look for?

Instead of guessing based on arch shape, check these two things:
• Clearance between the bump stop and chassis
• Whether you’re riding on the load leaf (that thick lower leaf designed to carry extra weight)

In this image, you’ll notice the clearance is low and the load leaf is already engaged — this customer wasn’t overloaded, but their suspension was still under pressure.

👉 Our recommendation? Upgrade the suspension to better handle the consistent load. Better ride quality, safer towing, and less wear and tear long term.

Sad news about our mates at Roll the Dice Racing.
