A fantastic evening at the IES Victoria & Tasmania Lighting Awards and our first time being involved with the event.

It was great to host Buckford Illumination Group and their guests from Aurecon , JHA, and GHD Group , catch up with our partners at Southern Lighting, and meet many other professionals from across Victoria's lighting industry.

We look forward to strengthening these connections and being involved again next year.

A big thank you to A.D. Coote for the invitation and their ongoing support.

If you're attending, drop by Stand 3 and have a chat with Alex about lighting, streetscape and infrastructure solutions for your next project.

Kings Beach Upgrade | Caloundra, QLD

Located just metres from the ocean, Kings Beach required a lighting solution designed to perform in a demanding coastal environment.

Urban Aluminium supplied a combination of Multi-Function Park Poles complete with integrated banner arm accessories, and Architectural Pipe Poles, all sporting some sleek Signify Urban Flex luminaires.

To reduce construction costs and minimise disruption, existing footings were reused with custom stainless steel adaptor plates, helping avoid unnecessary civil works and traffic management.

The finished installation features a black dual-coat powder-coated finish and is built to provide long-term performance in one of Queensland's most iconic beachfront locations.

Recently, the Urban Aluminium team joined colleagues from GM Poles Australia in welcoming members of the Best Practice Network to the Richlands facility for a morning of learning, discussion and industry collaboration.

The event brought together professionals from a range of industries to explore manufacturing, business improvement and the importance of sharing knowledge across organisations.

A highlight of the session was an introduction to the Entrepreneurial Operating System® (EOS) by Brett from EOS Worldwide, who provided valuable insights into how businesses can improve alignment, accountability and ex*****on through a clear and structured framework.

Attendees also had the opportunity to gain a behind-the-scenes perspective on Australian manufacturing and engage in discussions around industry best practice, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Thank you to Craig and Laura from Best Practice Network, Brett from EOS Worldwide , and everyone who joined us for the event. We look forward to continuing to learn from industry peers and fostering opportunities to connect, collaborate and share ideas.

What is anodising and why does it behave differently to other finishes?
Anodising is a controlled electrochemical process that thickens the natural oxide layer on aluminium. This layer is part of the metal, not something applied over the top.
That means it will not peel or delaminate like paint, and it performs differently over time.
In this carousel, we break down
• What anodising is
• What it is not
• What influences performance
A useful guide for anyone working with aluminium in architectural or infrastructure projects.
