Delivering the Official Opening address on behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, Vice President Hon. Gen. (Rtd) Dr. C.D.G.N. Chiwenga said the theme, “Unearth. Transform. Prosper - Anchoring Economic Transformation Through Mining Value Chains,”aligns with the Second Republic’s philosophy of leaving no one and no place behind.

He emphasised the drive to build a value-added mining economy through beneficiation and industrialisation, ensuring Zimbabwe derives maximum value from its mineral resources and that this wealth translates into tangible benefits for ordinary citizens. Zimbabwe is decisively shifting from exporting raw minerals towards retaining more value locally, strengthening domestic industries and creating greater economic opportunities.

Speaking at the Conference and Official Opening, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Hon. Mangaliso Ndlovu called for stronger, strategic linkages between the two sectors. While mining generated approximately US$8.6 billion in 2025 and spends about US$3.4 billion annually on equipment, services and operational requirements, only 15% of that expenditure is retained locally.

Strengthening local manufacturing and procurement will help retain more value within Zimbabwe, create jobs, stimulate enterprise growth and drive sustainable industrialisation.
