It is a pleasure to continue doing work at the FNB Stadium near Soweto,
Johannesburg. Last week, Fortem was on site with Mathias Widmayer to assist in carrying out an inspection of the stadiumās roof structure. This magnificent cantilever roof structure was designed by SBP who were a
sub-consultant to PDNA Consulting Engineers at the time.
The inspection took place over three days and every inch of the roof
structure was covered by means of foot, cherry picker, a pair of binoculars, a drone and rope access. These inspections arenāt for the faint of hearted,
but we do what is necessary to ensure the stadiumās continued longevity and
safety. See the picture of Josh van der Meer on top of the roof membrane and
from the cherry picker working safely at extreme heights. There is also a
throwback to 2010 to the time when Hans Koorn and Bob van Bebber were on top
of the roof membrane celebrating the completion of this successful project before the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
