Warmup SA

Warmup SA South Africa’s leading radiant underfloor heating manufacturer. Helo Africa became ’s distributor for Marmox Multiboards in 2017.

was founded in 1982 when K.O Morley identified the need for a discreet, safe heating system during a routine home renovation. went from a simple design, consisting of a heating wire encased in fabric, through 6 years’ worth of research and development, to a strong and safe foil-covered heater that was supplied to heating specialists throughout South Africa. By 1991,

had been established as a well-known brand, with a solid reputation, and our products were distributed by major flooring wholesalers.

kept expanding and in 1998 started stocking, and distributing, a range of thermostats, manufactured by OJ Electronics in Denmark, that was the perfect complement to our heating products.

2003 brought international recognition with product variations being installed in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. Just a year later, acquired a UL rating, allowing our heating products to be installed in the USA and Canada. Maintaining this rating requires frequent inspection of our factory and manufacturing process by UL staff. Always forward thinking, opened a branch in Cape Town in 2008 in order to maintain the high quality of service, customer and technical support that we had become known for. Conscious of energy saving needs, added the Marmox insulation boards to our product portfolio, to be installed under our heating products, resulting in up to 50% energy saving.

2010 saw another expansion, and South Side Distributors in the Eastern Cape became the official distributor for in the region. Shortly thereafter, an agent was also established in Bloemfontein due to the demand for our products in the Free State.

2012 was a celebratory year for . 30 years from inception, we had sold enough foil heating pads to pave a road from Johannesburg to Cape Town and enough heating wire to go around the world.

became a division of A.J. Pudney (SA) cc in 2015, adding 105 years’ worth of import / export knowledge and connections to our company. Additionally, the first was launched.

2016 brought a year of change, and embraced that with a new look. To complement our new look, we became a distributor for Viega Fonterra products, added to our in house hydronic floor heating portfolio. We also added the Heatmiser Thermostat range to the portfolio.

Underfloor heating works across multiple spaces.

Bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and open-plan living areas can all benefit from consistent, even warmth.

It is designed to become part of a room, not simply an added appliance.

If you are planning a renovation or new build, it is worth considering early in the process.

Underfloor heating should be considered as part of the early design and specification process.

Floor build-ups, insulation strategy, heat-loss calculations, and overall spatial planning all influence system design and output.

When properly integrated, the system forms part of the building fabric, supporting coordinated detailing and predictable thermal behaviour.

Early specification enables more accurate system design, improved energy modelling, and greater flexibility in coordinating finishes and build-ups.

Warmup’s technical team can assist with design information, calculations and system guidance during the planning stages.

Flooring selection has a direct impact on underfloor heating performance.

Different surface materials respond differently to heat transfer, which influences system efficiency and comfort levels.

Laminate and engineered wood typically have poor thermal conductivity, which can slow heat transfer into the space. Vinyl offers average thermal performance, while carpet can perform particularly well when correctly specified.

Correct pairing of system and surface is critical to achieving reliable, long-term performance. Thickness, density and overall thermal resistance should always be considered during specification to support optimal system output.

Architects and designers increasingly specify underfloor heating for its efficiency, flexibility, and discreet integration.

It supports modern building practices by delivering comfort without visual compromise, making it well-suited to contemporary residential and commercial projects.

For project-specific guidance or technical input at the specification stage, our team is available to assist.

Kitchens are high-traffic, hard-surface spaces. Tile and stone floors look beautiful, but they hold cold.

A properly specified underfloor heating system transforms the way the space feels, especially during early mornings and winter months.

System reliability, quality components, and professional technical support all play a role in long-term performance.

When correctly installed, underfloor heating becomes part of the building fabric, delivering consistent, energy-efficient comfort without disrupting the space's design.

Underfloor heating operates through radiant heat rather than forced air.

Heat rises gently from the floor surface, warming the room evenly from the ground up.

This approach improves thermal efficiency and reduces heat loss, creating a more controlled and comfortable indoor environment.

Underfloor heating is often thought of as a winter solution. In reality, it’s a year-round comfort system.

Distributing heat evenly across a space, it creates a stable indoor environment without the temperature spikes associated with traditional heating.

The result is consistent comfort, regardless of the season.
