What causes battery terminal corrosion?

Battery terminal corrosion is cause by hydrogen gas that is released from the sulfuric acid inside your battery. The gas then reacts with other gases in the atmosphere causing corrosion on your terminals.

What to do?
Corrosion should always be cleaned because if it spreads it can cause more damage to your vehicle. Clean the corrosion by soaking the terminal in a solution of hot water and bicarbonate of soda. In most cases the solution will turn a bright blue or green. Don’t worry that’s a good thing. It means it’s working. Once the terminal is clean it is advised to use a silicone based spray to prevent the corrosion from coming back.

In severe cases of corrosion pop down to for expert advise and help with cleaning your terminals.
