Designs follow the principles of SANS (ISO) 9001. All design shall be approved by a senior engineer (10 years experience and engineering degree) and Pr Eng sign off. All designs

are reviewed by an alternate person. The client shall as part of quotation accept the design assumptions. The senior engineer shall have overall responsibility of managing interfaces and conformance to order. Quotation with accepted assumptions shall be stipulated with the output (design). Designs are normally based on first principles and relevant parts of applicable standards: ASME B30; AWS D14.1; BS2573; SANS etc. Cages are based on ASME and BS-EN OHSAct directive and the new SANS. Legal compliance are per driven machine regulations (DMR of the OHSACt (Act 85 of 1993)). Design outputs shall include:
i. Manufacturing method
ii. Quality requirements, such as welding procedures and welder qualification. Acceptance criteria
iv. Third party involvement
v. Finnish & painting
vi. Load test requirements
vii. Markings and safe working signage
viii. Limitations of usage shall be specified
ix. Limiting devices to be installed
i. The senior engineer shall specify any Hazop reviews if required. Final design shall be converted to pdf format. Approval shall be pdf format. Revisions shall be filed on a central database.
