Delta Built Environment Consultants (Pty) Ltd, formerly Virtual Consulting Engineers LvB (Pty) Ltd, can trace its origins back to 2005 when it began operations as a business unit of Virtual Buro. From 2007 it operated as a separate company under the Virtual banner and in December 2012 we decided to give ourselves a totally
independent identity, resulting in our rebirth as Delta BEC. Delta BEC currently has branches in Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town.

Delta BEC’s Architectural Design and Implementation service brings thoughtful student living to life at North-West University’s Vanderbijlpark Campus!

This first phase delivers 252 new beds in a functional courtyard layout, complete with communal kitchens, social spaces, laundry rooms, and a dedicated House Parent residence adjacent to the student residences.

The design philosophy was to ensure that the typology is repeatable across the campus, is compact, functional and complements the evolving aesthetic of built environment at the Vanderbijlpark Campus.

Urbanisation and densification create more hard surfaces, reducing natural seepage and increasing run-off, which can lead to flooding if unmanaged.

Delta BEC’s Municipal Infrastructure Division offers tailored solutions to address diverse stormwater and groundwater challenges for the public, private, and mining sectors.

Our services include:
• Drainage network design
• Run-off attenuation & detention
• Surface water ingress mitigation
• Subsoil drainage & water table management
• Floodline delineation
• Stormwater Management Plans (SWMPs).

We implement best-practice SuDS (sustainable drainage systems) design principles to protect communities and manage water sustainably.

Delta BEC has been appointed by the Agricultural Research Council – Vegetable Industrial Crops and Medicinal Plants (ARC–VIMP) to develop a concept for a cannabis and seed multiplication facility with supporting infrastructure.

The proposed facility will provide a controlled environment for plant growth, including office space, ablution facilities, storerooms, and a drying room. The concept sets out the foundational requirements to meet operational, regulatory, and environmental standards.

Ensuring safe landings through expert analysis.
Delta BEC conducted a comprehensive bearing capacity assessment at Lanseria International Airport, covering the runway, taxiways, and aprons. This included Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) testing and analysis as well as an aircraft movement analysis to determine an indicative Pavement Classification Rating (PCR). The work supports informed planning for current and future aircraft operations at one of South Africa’s key regional airports.
