Vacancy: Technical Sales Representative
Job purpose
The primary responsibilities of the External Sales Representative are:
To maintain the customer base
Develop sales strategies to attract new sales opportunities.
Duties and responsibilities
Sales
• “Getting the sale” by using various sales methods such as cold calling, door to door selling, presentations to customers etc.
• Evaluating customer needs and building productive, long-lasting relationships.
• Achieving personal and sales team targets.
• Planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential new customers.
• Completing sales support for customers including brand development to ensure Hydraulix (Pty) Ltd achieve their objectives in terms of gaining market share.
• Managing customer complaints, concerns and queries and responding to customers.
• Keeping management informed by submitting monthly activity and results reports.
• Taking ownership of product/technical problems and any other sales challenges.
Strategies
• Forecasting sales, developing out of the box sales strategies/models and evaluating their effectiveness.
• Researching accounts and generating or following through with sales leads.
• Conducting market intelligence to promote new product technology/new markets.
• Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications or establishing personal networks.
• Monitoring competition by gathering market information regarding pricing, specific problems and merchandising techniques on new or existing products.
• Developing cutomised solutions by offering Hydraulix (Pty) Ltd as a complete solution provider.
• Making valued recommendations to management.
Compliance Procedures
• Understanding and ensuring adherence to all compliance procedures, internal and external that govern Hydraulix (Pty) Ltd operational activities.
• Adhering to Hydraulix (Pty) Ltd code of conduct at all times.
• Compliance to health and safety at all times, both internally and externally.
Performing any other duty that is not reflected above, that is reasonable and lawful which the employee is capable of performing as and when required by the business.
Qualifications and Working Experience
Minimum qualifications and experience:
Grade 12
Professional/Technical/Sales Diploma
2 Years working experience in Basic/Technical Selling

Current and updated product knowledge
Strong verbal and written communication and negotiation skills
Interpersonal skills
Prospecting skills
Presentation’s skills
Working conditions
Travelling and working with challenging clients are inherent to the job.
Overtime work may be required from time to time when necessary, however the daily overtime shall not exceed three (3) hours a day and ten (10) hours a week as legislated.
Weekend work is not compulsory but may be required from time to time depending on business needs.
Physical requirements
The job may be physically demanding due to the extensive travelling and conducting site visits to mines, power stations and general industry. It may also include inspection and lifting of heavy equipment from time to time.
