A gate that closes properly is worth the Sunday it takes. 🔨

Most gates in Kwazakhele do not need replacing. They need the things around them seen to. The hinges, which drop over the years and make the gate drag. The latch, which stops lining up once the hinges have dropped. The bolts into the pillar, which work loose. And a coat of paint on the bare patches, before the rust starts where the old paint has gone.

Sunday lunch coming? Make sure the house is ready too.

Before the family arrives: the wobbly chair that needs one screw tightened, the door handle that has been loose since June, the braai grid that needs a scrub and the extension cord that should not be doing what it is doing.

Twenty minutes of small fixes this morning and the house is ready for the afternoon.

That tap has been dripping since June. Drip by drip it is money down the drain, and by now it is a sound the whole house has learned to ignore.

Tonight it takes twenty minutes and a washer. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝗸𝘂 has the washers, the tape, the spanner if yours has walked away, and someone behind the counter who will talk you through it.
