ASPHALT MIXING DRUM — SHUTDOWN COMPLETE 🔧⚙️

Another shutdown successfully completed by the Specialized Steel Worx team.

Following the removal of the worn drum end section, a new drum segment was fitted, aligned and fully welded into position. New internal scrolls were then positioned, aligned and welded before reinstating the end box and reconnecting the exhaust fan ducting.

Final commissioning and testing completed — ready to return to production.

🔧 DAY 2 | ASPHALT PLANT SHUTDOWN

Good progress on site today with the asphalt mixing drum discharge-end replacement.

The team removed the existing extraction ducting and end box, giving us access to remove the worn discharge-end section of the drum.

The new fabricated drum section was then positioned, carefully aligned and brought into profile using wedges and strongbacks before being secured and tack-welded into position.

With alignment confirmed, welding of the new drum section is now underway. 🔥⚙️

Another solid day of shutdown work and another step closer to getting the plant back into production.

🔥 ASPHALT PLANT SHUTDOWN WORK 🔥

Another critical repair underway by the Specialized Steel Worx team.

This project involves the complete replacement of the asphalt mixing drum discharge end, removing the worn section and fabricating and installing a new discharge-end assembly to get the plant back into reliable production.

🔧 SHUTDOWN WORK IN PROGRESS | ZEERUST

Another asphalt plant shutdown underway for the Specialized Steel Worx team.

Our crew is currently on site in Zeerust, carrying out extensive maintenance and repairs to the asphalt dryer drum during the scheduled shutdown.

Scope of work includes:

⚙️ Replacement of worn dryer drum scrolls
⚙️ Replacement of drum lifters
🔥 Repairs to the dryer drum
🔧 Removal and replacement of the bitumen injector pipe
🛠️ General fabrication, welding and mechanical repairs as required

Shutdown work is all about making the most of a limited window — getting in, getting the work done properly, and getting the plant ready to go back into production.

The SSW team is on it. 💪🏼

🏭 WEEKEND SHUTDOWN IN PROGRESS

This weekend our team is back on site carrying out critical maintenance on an asphalt plant, replacing the dryer drum bull nose lifters to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Shutdown work demands careful planning, quality workmanship and the ability to deliver within tight timeframes to minimise production downtime.

🏗️ GENERATOR ENCLOSURE PROJECT – PHASE 1 COMPLETE ✔

The structural steel framework and roof sheeting installation for this generator enclosure project have now been completed.

This phase included the fabrication, supply and installation of a custom steel structure designed to provide protection for the client's critical power generation equipment.

A big thank you to our team for their hard work and commitment in delivering another quality installation.
