📢 QUALITY NDT INSPECTIONS – WILL BE HIRING
Level 1 & Level 2 QC Inspectors
Shutdown: Sappi Ngodwana – May 2026
Quality NDT Inspections is seeking qualified and experienced Level 1 and Level 2 QC Inspectors for our upcoming shutdown at Sappi Ngodwana in May 2026.
🛠️ Position:
Supervisor over the NDT Technicians
📌 Duties
Set out NDT Teams according to bar charts, scope of work, and client requirements.
Supervise and coordinate all NDT Technicians on site.
Review and verify field reports submitted by each Technician for accuracy and completeness.
Review and approve final reports compiled by Admin Clerks.
Communicate daily with clients, AIA, project managers, and shutdown coordinators.
Ensure all inspections comply with applicable codes, standards, procedures, and client specifications.
Perform site walkdowns to ensure teams are working in correct areas and progressing as scheduled.
Monitor inspection quality and adherence to NDT procedures.
Update bar charts and report progress daily.
Allocate equipment and confirm calibration validity of all NDT instruments.
Identify problem areas or delays and implement corrective actions.
Manage documentation and ensure traceability of all inspection activities.
Write a final inspection report for the supervised site or plant area.
Compile full report files for each site/client for final submission.
Liaise with Safety Officers and ensure NDT teams comply with shutdown safety regulations.
Assist with planning, sequencing, and coordination of NDT during critical-path shutdown activities.
📚 Requirements & Experience
Valid qualification certificate (Level 1 or Level 2).
Proven experience in boiler, pressure parts, piping, and shutdown environments.
Strong knowledge of NDT methods (MT, PT, UT, RT, VT or applicable).
Experience supervising NDT teams during shutdowns or maintenance projects.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, weld maps, and plant layouts.
Understanding of acceptance criteria based on ASME, API, ISO, AWS, or client-specific standards.
Ability to compile, review, and sign off technical reports and inspection dossiers.
Experience communicating with clients, AIA, and project supervisors professionally.
Familiar with scheduling tools, progress reporting, and bar chart updates.
Strong understanding of safety standards, shutdown rules, and permit-to-work systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and digital reporting systems.
Ability to manage multiple teams and tasks under shutdown pressure.
Strong problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
