The natural beauty and timeless appeal of wood is the architectural highlight of the innovative design of the Winkel & Spens BOSJES farm, situated in the Western Cape. A key focus of the project was creating landscaped gardens spread across three sloping terraces. The terraces are connected by a curving pathway that provides access between the woodland landscape, forested play areas, spacious lawns, and conservation garden.

When it came to designing the landscape and custom playground structures, meeting the project’s environmental credentials for eco-sensitive design was top of mind for Square One Landscape Architects. We are delighted that they chose timber treated with Tanalith® E for the project.

In our Tanalith family we offer both Tanalith® C and Tanalith® E – so what’s the difference?

With a history spanning 60 years, Tanalith® C is a high pressure, industrially applied wood preservative containing CCA. It is commonly used to protect wooden utility poles, bridges and fencing. Wood treated with Tanalith® C has enhanced durability and long-term resistance against decay and insect attack even when in contact with water.

A unique combination of copper and organic biocides, Tanalith® E was launched in Europe in 1992 as an alternative to traditional CCA high pressure wood preservative treatments. It has decades of performance data to prove long-term protection against wood decay and insect attack, including termites. Wood treated with Tanalith® E can be used across industrial, commercial and residential applications for both in and out of ground contact, interior and exterior applications.
