West Coast Plant Hire was started in 1993, when Sam and Joan Mullen opened it and started operating from a little house in Vredenburg. With the arrival of Mittal Steel, the area developed and the business grew requiring larger premises. They built their own factory in 1996, home to West Coast Plant Hire to this day. In 1996, their son-in-law Mark ran the business for a month while they were on hol

iday and decided that this was a business that he could run with passion. In 1997 he and his wife Tanya, started the branch in Langebaan, operating originally from a wendy house and a 12m container. Mark and Tanya bought the Vredenburg branch after Sam and Joan decided to retire in 2005. Their daughter Jamie has been running around the place since the age of 6 and has always wanted to follow in her parents footsteps. She now works alongside her father, running the front office as operations co-coordinator. In the future, in all probability she will take over the day to day running of the business. West Coast Plant Hire was the first plant hire company to operate in their field in the area and can now boast a very diverse array of equipment. They are proud to be associated with a loyal customer base and supply tot he county’s civil and building industries.
