🏆 Gold Winner in the Construction category for the 2025 IFME (International Federation of Municipal Engineering) Excellence Awards with Project Title: Calabash Solution for Hammanskraal Emergency Water Treatment Plant.

Our vision has always been clear :
To see our children playing in the pristine waters of our rivers and oceans. Drinking safe, pure water straight from the tap.

This recognition belongs to every person on the Tecroveer engineering team — and to every client, partner, and stakeholder who has trusted us to solve some of South Africa's most complex water and wastewater challenges.

At the heart of this nomination is our work on the Klipdrift/Hammanskraal Emergency Water Treatment Plant — a 50 MLD modular facility designed, fabricated, and delivered in-house to bring safe, clean water to a community that had waited far too long for it.

The Calabash innovation by Kalabas that underpins this project proves that African engineering can solve African problems — at scale, to standard, and ahead of schedule.

Water is not a luxury. It is a right. And we will keep engineering until every community has it.

To our team: this is yours. đź’™
To our partners at DWS, Magalies Water, City of Tshwane and Pro-Plan: thank you for the trust.

Graeme Taylor thank you for accepting the award in Helsinki Finland.

Workers’ Day.

South Africa’s water systems don’t fail because of bad policy documents.

They fail because the people who were supposed to operate, maintain and protect them — weren’t supported to do it properly.

Behind every treatment plant that still runs is a Process Controller who showed up. An engineer who troubleshot at 2am. A site team that didn’t walk away when conditions made it easy to.

That’s what we honour today.

At Tecroveer, we’ve spent 50 years building systems, providing Solutions — but more than that, we’ve built the operational frameworks that make those systems survivable. Because clean water doesn’t happen in a boardroom. It happens on site, under pressure, by people who know what they’re doing.

To every person in the water sector who keeps the system running: this one’s for you.

We Clean Water.

đź’§ 50 Years of Clean Water. Still Going.

Tecroveer is featured in the Business Day Water 2026 Special Edition — and it’s worth a read.

The article covers what we’ve learned in 50 years of building water and wastewater systems across Southern Africa: that performance outlasts announcements, and durability matters more than optics.

From modular treatment solutions with Calabash, to industrial water management in mining and manufacturing — the work speaks for itself.

Fixing wastewater doesn’t require starting from scratch.

One of the biggest mistakes municipalities make is believing the only answer is total plant replacement.

In reality, progress comes from:
• stabilising existing processes
• reducing energy demand where it hurts most
• introducing modular, scalable upgrades
• improving compliance without shutting plants down

This is where Tecroveer operates.

We work with existing infrastructure, real operators, and real constraints — focusing on process reliability and efficiency, not theory.

Fixing wastewater is one of the fastest ways to protect water resources and restore compliance.

The solutions exist.
They just need to be implemented properly. Let's start the conversations.

Why most wastewater treatment plants fail — and it’s not lack of funding.

Most wastewater plants don’t fail overnight.

They fail slowly — for very predictable reasons:
• ageing infrastructure pushed beyond design limits
• energy-heavy processes that are expensive and unreliable
• poor process control and limited operational visibility
• upgrades delayed because “full replacement” feels impossible

The result?
Emergency repairs. Rising costs. Chronic non-compliance.

The issue isn’t knowing what to do.
It’s implementing solutions that work inside real municipal constraints.
If you’re responsible for plant performance, ask a simple question:
What is the weakest process in your system — and what would it take to stabilise it?

When people talk about the water crisis, they blame drought.

The Auditor-General points to something else entirely:
Failed wastewater treatment works.

Across the country we see the same pattern:
• plants operating beyond capacity
• untreated sewage entering rivers
• repeated Green Drop non-compliance
• infrastructure run to failure

This is not an environmental “nice-to-have”.
It directly contaminates drinking water sources downstream.

Water security does not start at the dam.
It starts at the wastewater plant.

If you’re involved in municipal water, engineering, or operations — start the conversation.
Ignoring wastewater failure is no longer an option.
