Are you confident that the disconnectors and switch-disconnectors you specify, install or inspect are being used correctly?

The latest issue of SA Electrical Contractor explores an important technical topic that affects safety, compliance, and correct equipment selection:

"Disconnectors versus Switch-Disconnectors: Why the wording matters" by ECA(SA) National Technical Advisor, Grant Seeman.
This practical article unpacks the differences between isolation and switching devices, explains the relevant SANS requirements, and highlights common mistakes that could have serious implications for electrical installations.

2. How does an SPD work?
3. Conditions that cause surges
4. SPD features & types (IEC standard)
5. Installation requirements per IEC
6. Why SPD backup protection is needed
7. Risks of incorrect backup protection (oversized/undersized)
8. SSD – SPD Specific Disconnector: technical benefits & field solutions
DC Session – SPD in Photovoltaic Installations
