Getting stuck in the mud is simply not an option during harvesting season!

A harvesting machine was always getting stuck out in the field and we needed to come up with a simple but effective solution. Our team got to work, designing a complete hydraulic drive assist system. At the heart of the solution is a custom-designed adaptor plate that interfaces the existing hub and steering knuckle with a high-torque Black Bruin motor while providing an efficient porting arrangement. The system also incorporates a manifold block fitted with Sun Hydraulics cartridge valves.

We also designed and programmed the electronic operator interface in-house, giving the operator simple control of the system while monitoring key operating conditions.

By turning a passive support wheel into a powered drive wheel, the machine now has additional traction when it's needed most and reducing downtime to keep the harvesting operation moving.

Projects like this are what we enjoy most, working alongside our customers to solve real engineering challenges through custom design, manufacturing, and quality hydraulic components.

Learning is most effective when theory meets application.

Our latest Introduction to Hydraulics training session provided a practical introduction to hydraulic systems. Todays group explored the function and operation of Sun Hydraulics cartridge valves before applying their knowledge at our hydraulic test bench.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today. Your enthusiasm and engagement made for a fantastic session and reminded us why we're so passionate about hydraulics.
