Error Source #5: No bolt tightening without the correct force application point ✋🔧

One risk that should not be underestimated when tightening a bolt to torque is the grip position. You've preset the right tightening torque on the torque wrench, but the bolt isn't tight enough or has been overtightened? This could be due to an operating error. Because what a lot of people don't realise is that if your hand doesn't hold the tool handle in the right place, this skews the measurement of torque applied to the bolt.

👉 In part 5 of our article series, we explain why the correct grip position matters, how to find the optimal position and why this is no longer something you need to worry about with our eClick torque wrenches. Discover Error Source #5 now: https://ow.ly/EtFH50ZRro9

Error Source #3: Manual documentation: A risk to quality and traceability 📋
Manual paper-based bolting sequences and documentation are a tried-and-tested way of organising work. The same applies to manually adjusting the torque wrench. However, the main disadvantage is that we are all humans and make mistakes. This article will explain how these mistakes come about and how eClick protects against them.
A lot of workers use assembly lists containing bolting sequences, including the respective tightening torques on a daily basis. The torque is manually adjusted on the torque wrench from one bolt to the next; the ‘tick’ in a box acknowledges correct tightening.
👉 In part 3 of our article series, we show where the risks of manual bolting sequences and documentation lie and how our eClick torque tools help reduce errors and make processes safer. Follow the link: https://stahlwille.com/.../manuelle.../41013655169

Error Source #2: Modified extension length: cause of incorrect bolted connections 📏
Interchangeable insert tools make the torque wrench a more versatile tool. For example, a ratchet can quickly be changed for an open jaw or ring insert tool. And then a modified extension length needs to be taken into account – with mechanical torque tools, this requires a manual calculation and with electronic tools, it is often done automatically. But if you forget to correct the extension length or make a mistake in your calculation, the bolted joint will be wrong.

The most common errors when using torque wrenches - Why good tools on their own are not enough. 🔧

Torque wrenches are considered a guarantee of precise and reliable bolted joints. And for good reason, as high-quality mechanical models deliver very reliable results – if they are configured correctly, used properly, and calibrated regularly. In practice, the biggest source of errors is often not due to the tool itself, but rather how it is used.

In our new article series, we take a closer look at six typical sources of error in torque tightening. We start with👉 Source of error #1: Continued load following click.
