RAW Steel was established in 1986, it was previously known as Simpson Steel Construction, which started in 1976. Both companies have been actively involved in structural steel and sheet metal fabrication, and over the years have built up a very strong relationship with many of the large contractors, numerous buildings standing in the country be
ing proud testimony to that fact. The services offered by our companies are varied. We have, however, often heard it said that if there is steel in it - RAW can manufacture it. Our day-to-day work is split into:
The manufacture, supply and erection of structural steel buildings ranging in size from 100m² to 9000m² (with or without roof and side cladding). Contracts worthy of note include a portal frame building complete with crane rails for Delta Cable Company, Cape Town, (This covered 9000m², in 1990) and a lattice truss building for the new Table Top Cold Storage in George, Southern Cape. The latter required us to use two lifting cranes simultaneously to place the trusses (1993).
