STRUCTURAL AUDITS
Even after construction and occupancy, building owners remain responsible for ensuring that their building continues to be a safe environment.
The Construction Regulations (2014) state that inspections must occur to the structure:
- At least every 6 months for the first 2 years following construction
- Annually thereafter
These inspections identify potential hazards, minimise risks and ensure compliance with the regulations. They also ensure that preventative maintenance is carried out, thereby reducing the risk of major structural problems in future. It is also prudent to carry out an audit when the building ownership changes.
These inspections must be done by a registered professional engineer or technologist. Carlisle & Associates has 40 years of experience in carrying out these types of inspections and would be happy to assist you. Email us at [email protected] or call us on 083 377 6332.
