We are proud to have contributed to the successful completion of the R25.5 million upgrade of the Ceres 11kV Substation, officially opened by Witzenberg Municipality on 3 July 2026.

Representing Lombard Consulting Engineers at the event was Drikus Viviers, Head of the Electrical Department, who joined the celebration of this important milestone.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Executive Mayor Cllr Trevor Abrahams and attended by Western Cape Minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Anton Bredell, together with municipal leaders, project stakeholders and invited guests.

The upgraded substation is a significant investment in the region's electricity infrastructure, designed to improve network reliability, accommodate future electricity demand and strengthen the resilience of the power supply for residents, businesses and future development.

Congratulations to Witzenberg Municipality and everyone involved in bringing this important project to fruition.

A new 2500A Low Voltage panel was designed and installed to replace ageing equipment, while the existing 500kVA, 650kVA, and 700kVA generators were synchronised to allow a seamless transition between mains and backup power for this client in Bethlehem.

The outcome? Uninterrupted operations when it matters most.

In celebration of Mandela Day this month, the LCE team based in Durbanville, Cape Town had the honour of supporting the learners of Attie van Wyk Primary School with a donation of 29 pairs of school shoes.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to walk their journey with comfort and confidence. It is our hope that these shoes not only meet a practical need, but also serve as a gentle reminder to each learner: you are seen, you are supported and you are capable of achieving great things.

The response from the school community was incredibly warm – joyful, grateful and full of heart. Together, one small step at a time, we can keep building a brighter future.

In the spirit of Mandela Day (18 July 2025), the LCE North team reached out to Doringkloof Primary School - a community right on our doorstep in Centurion. After speaking with the school’s social worker, it became clear their greatest need was food. We prepared ten food parcels, each filled with essentials like rice, mealie meal, sugar, tea, cooking oil, juice and canned goods. Every parcel included a special LCE note to bring hope and encouragement.

The staff were deeply grateful, and, with the school holidays just beginning, these parcels will make a real difference for the families who need them most. It was wonderful to get out as a team and deliver them together.
